Grateful to be finishing up my first week of a new yoga program. Why so passionate? After hurting for nearly 3 weeks with a back injury brought on by stress & half assed pre/post workout stretches, I ended up in the ER with the worst back spasms I have ever experienced.I knew I couldn't rush this healing process. I rested, I prayed, I dug deep & tuned into what my body truly needed to heal. ✨️
Yoga had always been a part of my everyday for years, until one day it just wasn't anymore.
I am not sure what changed? Life got busier, yoga fell aside, I spent more time pushing myself harder instead of allowing myself a chance to surrender.✨️
In a way I am happy this happened, it gave me a chance to regroup and redirect. I can see clearly now the way I was going about handling my anxiety & stress was not working & my body was screaming at me to find a better way.
So, I took each day of "week 1" a tiny step at a time, utilizing my yoga blocks and straps to aid in my stretching, being mindful not to force anything, making sure to show up to my mat everyday and giving myself a huge dose of patience, which is a virtue I am still struggling to learn.✨️
By the end of "week 1" I was delighted that I could reach my toes again without pain.
Movement truly is medicine but I have been humbled to learn you can't bulldoze your way through it. Looking forward to "week 2" and many more weeks to come of sticking to my practice on & off the mat. Destress & stretch, come along my health journey & thank you for being here!
