This past weekend, HSA basketball had five (5) teams participating in various tournaments in Troy, IL and Stonington, IL. Each team held its own against some tough competition.

A special congrats to the 4th grade girls team and the 6th grade boys team. The 4th grade girls team took home 2nd place in the TLK Hustle and Heart tournament in Troy, IL. The girls beat Highland, Troy, and Collinsville eventually losing their only game to a true travel program in Edwardsville. Congrats girls on a great season thus far!

The 6th grade boys earned 3rd place in the Jack Dettro Classic tournament in Stonington, IL. On Saturday, the boys lost to Taylorville and then beat Warrensburg-Lathum. On Sunday, the boys beat a true travel team called the Metro Saints, lost to South Fork, but then rebounded with a win against Macon Meridian to claim the 3rd place title. Congrats boys!

The HSA basketball season is on its home stretch. We will still have home games on February 14th, February 15th, and February 22nd at the Hillsboro Junior High School. Please come out and support Hillsboro youth basketball.

Congrats to the Hillsboro 4th grade girls team coached by Morgan Yount and Joe Chappelear! They won the 2026 Orange Effect 4th Grade Girls Tournament today in Edwardsville by defeating the Civic Memorial Jr. Eagles in the championship game, 16-3. Prior to the championship game, the Hillsboro 4th grade girls defeated Troy Little Knights - Black, 23-16 and LTB Orange, 29-7.

The 2026 Hillsboro Boys Hoopfest tournament was played this past weekend. Thank you to all the 40 participating teams, the coaches, the numerous volunteers, and the Hillsboro Junior High School Hillsboro High School for allowing HSA basketball to host the tournament at the schools!

Congrats to the following teams who earned the right to participate in the Illinois Youth Basketball State Championship in Bloomington, IL in March:

4th Grade:
1st Place - Highland
2nd Place - Pana St. Pats
Additional Qualifying Teams: Hillsboro 4th
Hillsboro 3rd

5th Grade:
1st Place - Troy - Black

The 2026 Hillsboro Girls Hoopfest tournament is officially in the books. Thank you to all the 24 participating teams, the coaches, the numerous volunteers, and the Hillsboro Junior High School for allowing HSA basketball to host the tournament at the school!

Congrats to the following teams who earned the right to participate in the Illinois Youth Basketball State Championship in Bloomington, IL in March:

4th Grade:
1st Place - Hillsboro Lady Hiltoppers

5th Grade:

Next weekend, January 10-11, HSA basketball will be back in action hosting the 2026 Hillsboro Boys Hoopfest tournament. This year, we have 40 teams participating. This is the most boys teams the boys Hoopfest tournament has ever had.

Congrats to the Hillsboro 4th grade girls team coached by Morgan Yount and Joe Chappelear! They won the 2026 Hillsboro Girls 4th Grade Hoopfest today by defeating the Highland Jr. Bulldogs in the championship game, 14-7. Prior to the championship game, the Hillsboro 4th grade girls defeated Nokomis in the first round of the tournament and then Pana St. Pats in the semifinals. By winning the 2026 Hillsboro Girls Hoopfest, the 4th grade girls have earned their right to participate in the 2026 Illinois Youth State Basketball Championship in Bloomington, IL in March.

HSA basketball hopes everyone has had a good holiday season. This weekend, 1/3-1/4, HSA basketball is back in action.

On Saturday, 1/3, our 2nd/3rd grade co-ed league will be playing games at the Coffeen Elementary School. The first game begins at 9:00am.

On Saturday, 1/3, our 5th grade boys team travels to Stonington, IL to compete in the 1st Annual Jack Dettro tournament.

On Saturday and Sunday, the 2026 Hillsboro Girls Hoopfest tournament takes places at the Hillsboro Junior High School. Games begin both days at 9:00am. There are 24 combined teams between 4th, 5th, and 6th grade competing this year.

FINAL REMINDER - Order forms and payment for the Vitale Foods pizza fundraiser are due this Sunday, December 14th.

The order forms and payment can be turned into the admissions table this Saturday (2nd/3rd grade rec games) or Sunday (4th & 5th grade games) at the Hillsboro Junior High School upon entering the school.

HSA Basketball is back in full swing this weekend. On Saturday, 2nd/3rd grade co-ed basketball started its season. Additionally, some of our 4th and 5th grade teams hosted Nokomis today.

On Sunday, all of our 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys and girls teams are in action at the Hillsboro Junior High School with games beginning at 1:00pm. If you are available, please come out and support our youth basketball teams.

Furthermore, congrats to the Hillsboro Junior High School 7th grade girls team on their semifinal state championship win today! On Thursday, December 11th, they will play for the 7th grade 3A state championship against Teutopolis. Good luck girls!
