Welcome back Melinda! 💚 We are so pleased to announce our new Tuesday 7pm Slow Flow teacher. A Mat Happy YTT alum from our very first training in 2018. Starting this week!
Melinda’s yoga journey began in the late 1990s as a form of movement and exercise — and almost immediately, she noticed how good she felt after practice. With former careers in teaching art and fashion design, life was intense — yoga quietly became her anchor, first as stress relief, and eventually something far more essential: a way to clear her energy, settle her mind, and drop into the stillness of her meditation practice.
She completed her RYT 200 in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga through Mat Happy Yoga in 2018 and has been teaching since 2019, bringing to her classes a belief that yoga is far more than a physical practice. At its heart, it is an energetic one — a uniting of mind, body, and spirit.
Melinda’s classes are grounded in postural alignment and the intentional movement of energy, guiding students toward a place of stillness within. She often draws inspiration from the seasons, lunar cycles, and planetary energy — and never loses sight of the most important ingredient: joy. Her teaching style welcomes all levels, offering modifications, props, and invitations to honor your own body and energy.
Beyond the mat, Melinda is a Reiki Master Teacher, Human Design Coach, and certified Yoga Health Coach focusing in Ayurveda. She is also a visual artist who loves to draw, paint, and explore new ways of creating. A lifelong learner, she continues to grow across all of her modalities and has led various workshops integrating yoga with art, Reiki, and Ayurveda — a reflection of how she lives and teaches. When she’s not on her mat, you’ll likely find her walking her dog, spending time in nature, or traveling somewhere warm. You might also find her hanging out with her three stepchildren and two granddaughters, or catching live music locally with her husband.
