Congratulations to Katie Byerly on an outstanding season and earning Honorable Mention OCC!

Katie continues to elevate her game both on the field and at the plate. She leads by example and is very coachable, whether it’s making adjustments during her at-bats or putting in extra time outside of practice to fine tune her defensive footwork and speed. Her softball IQ and exceptional field awareness brings tremendous value to Darby’s defense.

As a junior second baseman, Katie consistently makes athletic plays and steps up when her team needs her most, tracking down those challenging bloopers into shallow right field and helping solidify the defense.

At the plate, Katie’s versatility makes her a constant threat. She can slap, bunt, or hit for contact with precision, keeping opposing defenses on edge. Her pinpoint-accurate slapping game and ability to place the ball create opportunities every time she steps into the batter’s box.

Katie’s dedication, growth, and commitment to continuous improvement have made her an invaluable part of the Panthers’ success. Congratulations on a well-played season, Katie!

Congratulations to Bella Nelson on earning 2nd Team OCC honors!

As the Panthers’ lone catcher, Bella embraced one of the most demanding roles on the field and defended the plate all season long. Defensively, she left everything on the field every game while protecting the plate with toughness, grit, and determination. Her ability to frame pitches helped steal critical strikes for our defense, while her strong arm consistently shut down opposing runners and caught players off guard with timely pickoffs.

Behind the plate, Bella served as the quarterback of our defense, providing leadership, game management, and support for our pitching staff. Her presence and confidence helped keep the entire team focused and prepared.

At the plate, Bella was a dependable offensive threat, delivering quality contact while also possessing the power to drive the ball deep when her team needed it most. Her combination of defensive excellence, leadership, and offensive production made her an invaluable part of our success.

As the starting shortstop for the Darby Panthers the last two seasons, Carmela is the steady force that commands the middle infield. A junior infielder with incredible range, she consistently tracks down balls in the gap that most players simply can’t reach, turning potential hits into outs and giving her team confidence on every pitch.

Carmela’s unwavering calmness on the field is matched only by her fierce competitiveness. She plays every inning with determination, giving maximum effort and never backing down from a challenge. Her leadership shines through her actions, as she competes with fire while maintaining a kind heart that makes her an outstanding teammate.

Congratulations to Carli Ludban on earning First Team OCC honors!

Carli, a junior first baseman, is the definition of a dependable teammate and leader. Her positive, easy-going personality and unmatched energy make her a player that everyone loves having on the field. As a vocal leader, Carli consistently elevates the mindset and performance of those around her, helping create a confident and competitive team culture.

Defensively, Carli is a steady and reliable presence at first base. Her leadership, communication, and ability to make plays in critical moments provide stability for our entire defense.

At the plate, Carli is a dangerous left-handed power and contact hitter who always seems to deliver when her team needs it most. Whether driving the ball into the gaps or producing clutch RBIs, she has a knack for creating big moments. One of the season’s most memorable highlights came when she launched a grand slam against Marysville, helping power the Panthers to a 7-1 victory and setting the tone for a huge team win.

Congratulations to Senior Third Baseman Lorelai Gum on an outstanding 2026 season and earning Special Mention OCC!

A four-year varsity letter winner, Lorelai has been a cornerstone of our program. At the plate, she has been a constant offensive threat, combining power and consistency every time she steps into the batter’s box. She led the team with a .682 slugging percentage and posted 33 Hits with 37 RBI’s!. Whether it’s a screaming line drive through the middle, a hard-hit ball finding the gap, or a towering home run over the fence, Lorelai’s ability to make strong contact and put the ball in play makes her one of the toughest hitters to face.

Defensively, Lorelai is poised under pressure. She is a quiet force whose consistency elevates everyone around her and sets the tone for our defense. She leads by example every day, making difficult plays look routine, snagging hard-hit line drives, and consistently making smart defensive decisions to get the lead runner when the game is on the line. Her softball IQ, work ethic, and steady presence have been invaluable to our team’s success.

While her accomplishments at Darby have been impressive, the best is yet to come. Lorelai will continue her softball career at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where her talent, determination, and leadership will undoubtedly make a tremendous impact on the program.

Marley Grigsby was a force in the circle all season long. The left-handed sophomore showcased incredible grit, perseverance, talent, and skill while taking on some of the toughest competition in Central Ohio. Marley earned impressive victories over outstanding programs including Olentangy, Delaware Hayes, Marysville, and Jonathan Alder, proving she could rise to the occasion against the area’s best.

In just her second varsity season, Marley compiled 12 wins, struck out 88 batters, faced 594 hitters, and delivered an astounding 2,292 pitches throughout the season. Her toughness, composure, and determination helped anchor the team and gave her teammates confidence every time she stepped into the circle.

For her outstanding performance, Marley earned her second varsity letter and was recognized as a Second Team OCC selection. As only a sophomore, her future is incredibly bright, and this season was a testament to the hard work and dedication she brings to the game every day.

Congratulations, Marley, on an outstanding season in the circle. Your grit, perseverance, and competitive spirit made a tremendous impact, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

Taylor Cahill was a spark plug for the Darby offense all season long. The sophomore left-handed slapper and outfielder brought lightning speed, relentless energy, and unmatched versatility to the lineup. Whether she was laying down a bunt, slapping the ball into a gap, or swinging away, Taylor consistently found ways to get on base and ignite the offense.

As the team’s rally starter, Taylor posted an outstanding .495 batting average, a .539 slugging percentage, and an incredible .657 on-base percentage. Once she reached base, opponents knew they had their hands full. Her blazing speed helped her set a new season record with 26 stolen bases, constantly putting pressure on opposing defenses.

Defensively, Taylor’s speed and determination allowed her to track down balls all over the outfield, making difficult plays look routine. More importantly, she brought a fighter’s mentality and positive energy every day, inspiring her teammates on both offense and defense.

Taylor’s hard work and exceptional season earned her her 2nd Varsity Letter, First Team OCC and First Team All-District honors. As only a sophomore, she has already established herself as one of the area’s top players, and her future is incredibly bright.

Kaydence Speelman was a constant offensive threat for Panther Softball and one of the toughest outs in our lineup. As a left-handed slapper, she kept opposing defenses on edge every time she stepped into the batter’s box. Her pinpoint accuracy with both her slaps and bunts, combined with her outstanding speed, made her a game-changing weapon at the top of the order.

Kaydence put together an exceptional season at the plate, batting .495 with a .564 slugging percentage and a .532 on-base percentage. Her ability to put pressure on defenses and create opportunities for her teammates was a key part of our success all season long.

Off the field, Kaydence exemplified what it means to be a true student-athlete. She earned OCC Scholar-Athlete honors while balancing the demands of academics and athletics with excellence, dedication, and leadership. She consistently led by example in the classroom, on the field, and within our program.

Congratulations to Kaydence on an outstanding season and career as a four-year varsity letter winner, First Team OCC selection, and Second Team All-District honoree. Your hard work, commitment, and leadership have left a lasting impact on Panther Softball.

Kaydence will continue her softball career at Marietta College and now she will continue to be an offensive threat for the Pioneers!
