The Highland boys won the Danny Chavez Duals going 5–0 on the day with wins over Harrison V2 (62–12), Griffith V2 (60–24), Hammond Morton (63–12), Wheeler (60–12), and Boone Grove (61–12).

Going undefeated on the day were Leo V, Josue A, Ben F, Gavin W, Simon M, and Landen G with the rest of team going 4-1. The program also celebrated several milestones, as Aladeen M, Chase A, Kaeleb M, and Brandon A earned their first career varsity wins this past week.

Highland boys improves to 6–0 on the season and now turns its attention to a major early test, hosting #3-ranked Hanover Central on Tuesday for the home opener.

On the girls side, Highland went 2–3, with their losses coming to three Top-10 ranked teams in the state. They earned wins over LaPorte (54–24) and Griffith (53–18) while dropping competitive matchups to #1 Whiteland (66–18), Merrillville (48–36), and Penn (52–29). Aleks B led the way with 5 wins, while Melody V, Sammi R, Kennedy S, Isabella R, and Bianca L each earned four wins on the day.

The Girls will also wrestle Hanover on Tuesday, then travel to Columbia City on Friday/Saturday for their 53 team invite.

Our MS spartans are 7-0 in duals and will travel to Pierce Middle School on Monday.

Highland Boys Varsity team opened the season with a strong overall performance across both varsity and JV. The varsity squad dominated with nine victories—powered by seven pins and two tech falls—highlighted by big wins from Leo (113), Chase (120), Simon (144), Kaeleb (150), Tyler B (157), and Landen (165). The upper weights closed the door with pins from Aden (215) and Mahmoud (285).

The JV boys battled and fueled by key bonus-point victories- Michael F (138) delivered a first-period fall, Aladeen (144) added a tech fall, and both Jesus Rodriguez (157) and Fabian (165) picked up pins to round out the dual.

The Highland girls team continued the momentum with an impressive 60–18 win over Illiana Christian. The lineup was stacked with aggressive offense—Highland recorded 7 pins, including fast falls from Viviana (120), Taylor (135), Melody (145), Samantha (155), Aleksandra (170), Bianca Lomeli (190), and Katarina (235).

Rounding out the program’s success, the Highland Middle School team earned a home conference victory over Kahler 93–12.

The boys traveled to KV this past Friday and finished 3rd out of 8 teams. They picked up wins over Laville, Kankakee Valley, and East Chicago and lost to Griffith and Crown Point V2 moving their season team record to 11-8.

Standout performances from our two freshmen Landen(150) and Aden (215) who finished 4-1 on the day. Majority of our other wrestlers went 3-2.

The team will travel to Hanover for the Lake County Invite on January 11th.

Results from this week.

The Boys team won two out of six duals earning victories over Valparaiso and Whiting. They competed well against four tough teams losing to Chesterton, Lake Central and state ranked Hobart and Lowell. This moved their dual record to 8-6.

The team will travel to the KV Super Duals on Fri. Dec 27th.

The girls crushed it yesterday at Munster, all 11 wrestlers placed in the top 4 with 4 champs and 4 runner ups. They will travel to Whiteland next Saturday to wrap up their regular season.

The Trojans boys wrestling team drop to 6-2 with tonight's loss to Munster. Girls improve to 10-0 with their impressive win. Middle school also finished their season undefeated in conference for a second consecutive year tonight!

The boys wrestling team traveled to Lake Central and wrestled at the 16-team Harvest Classic. Congrats to Hunter Vanek who was the 144 pound champion. Other placer winners were Leo Velasco (6th) and Angel Ramirez (3rd).

It was a monumental weekend at Highland High School as we hosted our first IHSAA-sanctioned Girls Wrestling tournament!

Not only did we host the tournament - we also had a lot of success. Our Girls Wrestling team came in 3rd place out of 25 teams. Individually, Emmalynn M., Aleksandra B., and Melody V. placed 1st in their classes with many other girls placing as well.

If you have never been to a wrestling meet - boys or girls - you definitely should! Both teams host Illiana Christian High School tomorrow, November 20, at 6:00 p.m. here at HHS. Come out and support our awesome wrestling programs!
