Meal planning is one of the easiest things you can do to set yourself up for healthy dietary habits. But it seems to be one of the hardest things for people to set aside time to do. You can meal prep for the days ahead or even for the whole week ahead. A huge benefit of meal prepping is: You make all of your eating decisions at once, in a smart, logical focused manner. It makes it easier to save money and also to avoid stopping for fast food when you know the ingredients for a healthy recipe are waiting for you at home.

1️⃣What is your schedule like?
What meals are you at home for and what meals are you away from home. Also get a good idea of when you really don’t feel up to cooking, maybe when you get home from work all you want to do is come home and relax. Well now you know what meals to prep! Plan around your schedule so that you are successful to stick to your healthy habits

2️⃣ How many meals do you need to make?
Lets say you have time to meal pre twice a week. 1 hour on a Sunday and 1 hour on a Thursday. Figure out how many meals you need to prep from Sunday to Thursday. Maybe you need 4 dinners and lunches and then mid day snacks. Then Thursday comes and you meal prep again on Thursday-Sunday!

3️⃣ What types of foods can you prep?
You want to have balanced meals which includes nutrient dense carbohydrates, fats, and protein.Set up an appointment with one of our nutritionist and they can set you up with a macro friendly grocery list! Rule of thumb is pick a food source from each category and make your plate as colorful as possible. Snacks should include protein and fats and minimal carbohydrates. Write your grocery list down and stick to it!

4️⃣ Write All Of Meals On A Calendar
Now that you've figured out how many meals you need, and have gone shopping. All you have to do it prep the food and plan out when you're going to enjoy it for the week! Write the meals down on the days of the week and you can do the same meals every other week or biweekly and then have another week of meals that way you have variety in your diet and flavors!

YES, this takes time and planning, but it sets you up for success and will help you in the long run. You will enjoy

Up first we have Magnesium. We often use the analogy that certain vitamins and minerals are like keys that start different engines in your body, and without enough of them you can’t get (or keep) your engines going. Magnesium plays a part in over 300 processes in the body. So without enough magnesium “keys” it is hard to keep everything running. Again, with the changing soil quality and the average humans dietary intake changing over the recent decades, we are getting about half the magnesium we used to through diet alone. It is even more important for athletes to replenish magnesium because we also lose it through sweat. Magnesium plays large rolls in:

Fighting depressions: Magnesium aids in the release of serotonin, sometimes referred to as the happy chemical, in the brain.
Maintaining Blood Sugar Levels: Kidneys rely heavily on magnesium to process and operate during blood sugar spikes.
Nervous System Health: The nervous system is always cranking away. Magnesium helps the nervous system regulate stress responses, high blood pressure, and sleep. This is also a crucial point for athletes because of the stress that training and competing puts on the body. It helps the body fight inflammation.
Bone health and calcium absorption

Introducing our October member of the month, Rich Goldman!

🔺Rich has been coming to EFT for three years and primarily does 1-1 sessions with trainer but is not stranger to jumping into a meat camp on Friday mornings.
🔺 His favorite workout to do at EFT is anything without a sled.
🔺Rich’s biggest accomplishment since working out at EFT has been staying healthy.
🔺His favorite part about EFT is the friendly, knowledgeable staff.
