Congratulations to Henry Gamson on his performance in the IHSA 3A State Cross Country Meet. He ran a personal best 15:05.80 to finish in 84th place. His time is 18th all-time for Highland Park on the 3 mile course at Detweiller Park. It is also the 12th fastest HP time ever run at the IHSA State Meet.

Highland Park had a strong team race at the IHSA 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional. Congratulations to Henry Gamson on earning a trip to the IHSA 3A State Meet! He ran a personal best 15:15.69 and was the 10th qualifier at the meet by just .07! This is an incredible accomplishment for Henry and the program. This is now the 16th year in a row that HP has had a team or individual qualify for the State Meet. Of all of the boys teams eligible to be in our Sectional, only HP and Lake Zurich have this current streak of qualifiers.

Lucas Hoobler raced well and was the next finisher for HP in 15:43.16. Sophomore Caleb Haggarty ran sub 16 for the first time with a 15:57.06. Truman Evans had a gutsy race after getting badly spiked early in the race and battled tough to run a personal best 16:02.79. Landon Chase showed his determination and toughness as he has been dealing with a hip issue the last few weeks of the season and ran a personal best 16:17.81. Shea Jackson (our other sophomore in the race) had a big race as he broke 17 for the first time with a huge personal best of 16:31.03. Makena Duggan continued to show he is a gritty racer as he fought for another personal best running 16:40.35. The coaches are so proud of how well our top 7 represented the team not just in their performances but with their character.

The Highland Park High School Boys and Girls Track & Field Teams once again combined their efforts for a 24 Hour Run to raise as much money as possible to contribute to the Highland Park High School Charity Drive. The 24 Hour Run is a 24 hour relay run in which members of the track & field teams along with others interested in participating take turns running 1 mile at a time. The event took place on HPHS’s indoor track for 24 hours starting at 8 am on January 31st and concluded at 8 am on February 1st. Those that participated ran an impressive 187.5 miles! Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for this year's designated charity, the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation. The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation is committed to funding breakthrough gastrointestinal (GI) cancer research. The Foundation aims to advance cancer medicine and increase survivorship. I would greatly appreciate any size donation you would be willing to make as part of our 24 Hour Run event. You can make your donation at the link below. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
