Friday at 5 – ASA Update

The ASA staff has been a little under the weather this week recovering from ATA, so we’re skipping the video and bringing you a rules-focused Friday at 5 post instead. Below is a quick breakdown of what to expect from rules pertaining to equipment, in both the non-competition ranges and the Money Class ranges at Pine Ridge Farm LLC, August 20th-23rd.

12 Non-Competition Ranges:

• Vertical bows only — crossbows will not be accommodated on any range
• Any compound bow is allowed with no setup limitations other than a 330 FPS max speed
• Longbow, barebow, and traditional bows are all welcome
• Dedicated ranges will be available for recurve, youth, and seniors, but shooters are not limited to these — you’re free to shoot any range you’re comfortable with and can safely handle
• Ranges will vary in maximum distance from 25 yards to 100+ yards

Money Class Ranges:

• Known distance
• 35” axle-to-axle maximum
• Drop-away or fully enclosed rests only (no fixed blade rests)
• .246 maximum arrow diameter with screw-in points
• Stabilizers : 18” max front (including mounts and weights) 15” max rear (bar and weights)
• Verifiers and clarifiers allowed in peeps — no lenses permitted in the scope
• Movable sights allowed, but must be dialed/slider sights only (no clickable micro-adjust vertical adjustment)
• 330 FPS max speed
• 80-yard max distance
• S.O.S. system rules will be released soon in collaboration with ACU Archery

More updates including scoring and novelty shoots coming soon. Thanks for bearing with us this week, and as always — stay tuned for more Friday at 5 updates.
