GreenCraft Associates is owned by Robert DeStefano and Trisha Coene, a husband and wife team. Rob is a NJ Licensed Landscape Architect touted for his incredible ability to transform any property into a lovely, functional extension of the home with outdoor spaces that inspire everything from lavish summer parties to serene escapes from the busyness of everyday life. Rob has been an artist his whole

life with an affinity for nature and architecture. Landscape Architecture was truly his calling. Also noteworthy: Rob is the son of a contractor and has hands-on experience working in construction. This makes him a highly qualified and skilled project manager who selects a customized team of contractors built around the project that will ensure the highest quality craftsmanship. Trisha Coene is a horticulturist who studied Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University and completed her apprenticeship in Outdoor Display Horticulture at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. She tends to and designs perennial, annual, container and kitchen gardens, and will also consult.

Conditions for this planting were less than ideal. The large Maples are truly beautiful, but shallow rooted and fierce competitors for water. Their shade posed another challenge. The barren soil is rocky and the home’s well system did not have the capacity for irrigation. And let’s not forget we’re in rural NJ (Califon), so the 🦌🦌🦌 are regular visitors! It’s now mid February and the homeowner reports that the deer are bedding down amongst these plants and haven’t nibbled a single one! This is Phase One of this project; Phase Two will include the back yard to be completed this Spring.

Just in time for New Year’s! Phase 1 of this very challenging Summit, NJ property with a steep slope to the front entrance was completed this week. Bluestone was handpicked to match the existing front stoop. The wall is not only beautiful, but creates a much less drastic slope to the home’s entry. And with a growing family it’s nice to have a spot for a bench to sit and greet the kids as they come off the school bus each day. It’s been a wet foggy week here in New Jersey, but that didn’t stop our hardworking crews from getting this job done and done! .nj

There used to be 2 big Oaks and a Tulip Poplar in this bed. A full home renovation occurred before we were hired to design the landscape. Trucks and machines were parked all over the property, beneath the tree canopies, most likely the cause of their demise. As each tree was removed, we filled in here and there, until it was time for a new tree (a gorgeous Bloodgood Japanese Maple) and lots of new plants for a whole transformation

30” tall cedar planting boxes are not just a beautiful addition to the garden... they are easy on the back! The perfect height for comfortable no-stoop gardening, these boxes will be overflowing with strawberries 🍓 greens 🥬 brassicas 🥦 root veggies 🥕 flowers 🌸 and herbs 🪴 The two boxes flanking the central bluestone path were set at the same grade and perfectly level, while the other boxes work with the grade, hence the slightly staggered heights.
