Meet the Coaches:
Mary Bell, WNBF Figure Pro
Located in San Diego, CA
Mary became involved in the sport of Figure in 1999, when a friend dared her to enter a show. At that time Figure was brand new and the current outlines and rules were not clearly stated. To prepare for her first show, she trained extremely hard, maintained a strict pre-competition diet, and she prepared herself for the compet
itions without the use of steroids or drugs of any kind. This is still how Mary maintains her on-season as well as her growing season. Her first competition was all that Mary needed to become hooked in the sport, however five minutes before getting on stage she was told she would have to perform quarter turns. Having no idea what this was, she watched the other girls before she entered the stage. That experience lead to Mary perfecting the Art of Figure Presentation, she is one of the first women to solely work with and train aspiring Figure competitors and has made a name in the sport as the "Best competition Coach". Mary has a positive attitude and a realistic view when it comes to competition. She acknowledges that her chosen sport is a tough one especially for women, keeping that in mind she continues to strive for perfection in her sport, and she realizes that without a positive attitude and a strong mind you can defeat yourself before you even get started. Bell puts in the work necessary to win, and when she steps on stage everyone can tell that she is a winner even if she doesn't take home the prize that day, and she tries to instill in her clients the same positive attitude, will power, and zest for life that she displays at every competition. When training clients Mary leads by example, and her expertise as an instructor is unsurpassed. Her inspirational words and actions help her clients to eliminate the fear of failure and progress to their maximum potential. Remember...
Mary famous statement to all her clients- "First or last YOU ARE A WINNER! because you gave it 100%!! -To fail is to never have tried!"
Tina Peratino Figure, Fitbody, BB Pro
Located in Bowie, MD
Tina is a wife, mom, athlete, coach and judge. Growing up, she was always active as a gymnast, cheerleader and equestrian. As an adult, a friend got her interested in lifting weights in her early 20's and from that moment on she was hooked. Soon after, she was certified as a Personal Trainer and taught Spinning and Kickboxing classes part-time. It wasn't until after the birth of her son, Nikolas (at age 31) and the need to lose 50 lbs that she decided to get serious about the diet and nutrition part of her training routine. From that moment on, there was no looking back; her first competition came just 18 months after the birth of her son where she won the Novice Overall and placed 2nd in the Open Short Class for figure. She's owes a lot of this to her physique (some genetics and a lot of help from her coach), but even more importantly, she won because of her presence on stage
Tina maintains a realistic view on the sport of physique competition. She believes that we all have lives outside of the sport and there has to be a balance. Her husband Eric and she both compete and have enjoyed being undefeated in couples body building; but they live by the motto "Work Hard and Play Hard". She maintains a healthy lifestyle year round but in the off season trains hard, but still enjoys hanging out with friends and family over good food and good wine. Being a wife and mom come first in her life, and physique competition prep can be brutal; it is a very selfish sport so she tries to maintain that balance between competition prep and family. This means that she must maintain a very strenuous schedule that entails waking at 3:30 a.m.to begin her full-time job and then hitting the gym for her own training at 4. In between workouts she spends her time working full-time as a Program Manager for the government, spending time preparing meals (for the whole family), quality family time, coaching clients...and the occasional opportunity to sleep. Tina believes that if you put all of the hard work in with training and diet, you need to be ready to present the entire winning package to the judges on show day. Her biggest frustration as a judge is to see a beautiful woman who has worked so hard to get on stage show up with an amazing physique, but lacking confidence, stage presence and posing ability. Her mission a Center Stage Figures & Physiques coach is to help her clients go from a diamond in the rough to the bright shining stars they deserve to be!
