I’ve spent a lot of years coaching, many in the realm of youth sports.
And lately, it might be time to start sharing some things out loud.
Not because I think I know everything.
Because I don’t.
But because I’ve spent enough years on the field, in the dugout, and around athletes of all ages to know that there’s a pretty big difference between what social media tells you and what’s actually true.
So, I’m stepping a little outside my comfort zone and bringing some of those conversations here.
The travel ball machine. The recruiting myths. The unrealistic expectations. The obsession with numbers that are entirely unrealistic. And we’re ranking 10 year olds?! 🤯
I think it’s worth noting, just because something gets views doesn’t mean it’s good advice. And just because someone has a platform doesn’t mean they have perspective.
This isn’t about calling people out for the sake of it. It’s about asking better questions, challenging bad information, and helping parents, athletes, and coaches make better decisions.
