Another AFDA Dance Instructor's birthday! Happy Birthday to Jessica Davis-Wall! This year, Mrs. Jessica teaches our younger students in Lyrical, Acro 1 and Hip Hop and has taught ballet, tap, jazz (both younger students and adults) and adult line dancing. She was Miss Dance of Catawba County for her tap solo to Aerosmith's Walk This Way! Happy Birthday, Mrs. Jessica!

My bad! It was James Keene's birthday yesterday, and I forgot to post it! Please wish him a happy birthday in class today!

For those who don't know, Mr. James is one of our most 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 dance instructors. He attended the Boston Conservatory, where he studied for 4 years and earned a B.F.A. in dance performance and choreography (and danced en pointe, which I think is so 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 cool!). While in Boston, Mr. James had the opportunity to dance with the Boston Ballet, Ballet Theater of Boston, modern dance great Anna Sokolow, Jennifer Scanlon, principal dancer of the Limón Dance Company for over 20 years and the internationally renowned Tokunaga Dance Co. James returned to the West Coast and began dancing with the Nevada Festival Ballet under the direction of Margaret (Maggie) Banks, and assumed the role of Dance Master for the Dorothy Farnon Dance Company. In 1997, James went to Los Angeles to work with the Donlavy Dance Company, Santa Monica Contemporary Ballet Company as a principal dancer and California Contemporary Ballet as a soloist. Mr. James formed Earthwalk Dance Company in 2007, where he taught and choreographed works based on the modern dance principles of Limón and Graham. Mr. James taught modern dance at the Dance Collaborative in Burbank, CA, until relocating to North Carolina, where he taught in Greenville, Durham, Benson, and Wilson, NC, before coming to Hickory. And this is just a small bit of all he's done! We're so happy he moved to North Carolina! He is an 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 dance instructor!
