Why Rock Steady Boxing?

We all know intense exercise is needed to combat Parkinson’s Disease. Why not just get a gym membership?

It is more than a gym membership. Our program is designed specifically for battling Parkinson’s Disease. A two year study on the effects of non contact boxing to combat Parkinson’s was conducted by the University of Indianapolis. This study followed different groups of people with Parkinson’s Disease who were using various forms of exercise to fight their disease.

The results?

The results found the people using boxing BY FAR out performed all the other groups.

The science has revealed what this program does for people.

We are also the only program in thee Hickory area accredited by the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Very interesting video about possible triggers for Parkinson’s and some ideas on how to prevent getting the disease.

Some triggers
Golf Courses (chemicals used to keep plant life green) seeps into our water and atmosphere.

Paraquat (a popular herbicide)

CTE (chemical used in dry cleaning)

My picture with Scott Newman in Pheonix, AZ.

Scott is the founder of Rock Steady Boxing. After doing boxing exercises with his friend Scott could tell his condition was improving. He knew he was on to something so he funded a two year study through the University of Indianapolis. The study found that non contact boxing helps improve the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.

Here we are twenty years later punching and grinding three days a week!
