🏀 LLL CHALLENGE UPDATE 🏀

This week’s challenge was 100 Free Throws. Kason Owen took the win, knocking down an impressive 89 out of 100!

Players also earned points based on their grades from progress reports and by showing up to support our Lady Rebels at this week’s home volleyball game.

The standings are getting tighter as we continue to challenge our guys on and off the court.

We had the privilege of hearing from a piece of Hickory Flat Basketball history today!

Mike Hearn, a 1966 Hickory Flat graduate and the second-winningest coach in program history (1989–1994), spoke to our guys about what it takes to become a championship-level team.

Coach shared similarities between our team and the group he had when he first took over—a group that eventually reached the State Quarterfinals and finished State Runner-Up the following year.

A great message for our guys about commitment, toughness, discipline, and believing in each other.

Thank you, Coach Hearn, for pouring into the next generation of Rebels!

We asked them a few questions about basketball, life, and some things you probably wouldn’t know about them.

Because there’s more to this team than what happens between the lines.

Week 4 of the Live Like Logan Challenge is complete!

This week featured the MAN-U Fitness Test. Players started with 1 down-and-back in 15 seconds, then immediately moved to the next level when time expired. Each level added one more down-and-back and 15 more seconds, continuing all the way through Level 10. The clock never stopped—the faster they finished each level, the more rest they earned before the next one began.

🔥 Big shoutout to Kaine Hoskins for completing all 10 levels!

We also completed our Behavior/Grade Reports this week. Players earned points based on their grades, classroom behavior, effort, and teacher feedback. What we do in the classroom and how we represent our program matters just as much as what happens on the court.

LLL CHALLENGE — WEEK 3

This week’s challenge was a 3-Point Contest! 🎯 Kaine Hoskins took the win with an impressive 25 out of 30 possible points!

We had some movement in the standings this week! Team Avengers jumped from 3rd to 2nd, while individually Ryder moved from 5th to 2nd, Liam stayed in the Top 3, and Sam and Carlito remain in the Top 5. Kaine continues to hold the top spot!

All teams and individuals earned bonus points this week for a clean locker room! 👏🏻

One part of our practice today had nothing to do with sports.
We passed note cards around and took time to recognize the positive qualities we see in one another—the things that make each player special and the qualities that can make us better teammates/competitors and better PEOPLE.
Because our identity isn’t defined by how many points we score on a court or field. We want to build good players, earn trophies and get scholarships but even more important, good people.
We also talked about being comfortable with being uncomfortable. Growth doesn’t happen when everything is easy. It happens when we’re willing to be challenged, pushed, and stretched beyond limits.
Proud of this group and the young women they are becoming. It’s going to be a GREAT season.
