Denton County Republican Party Statement on the Tragic Incident Involving Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell
The Denton County Republican Party is deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred early this morning involving Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell and her husband, Fred Mitchell. According to reports, both were victims of a stabbing at their home in Lewisville. Fred Mitchell succumbed to his injuries, while Commissioner Mitchell remains hospitalized in stable condition following surgery.
Commissioner Mitchell has been a cornerstone of our community, serving with distinction as the Precinct 3 Commissioner since 2000. Her dedication to public service is further exemplified by her historic tenure as Lewisville's first Black mayor from 1993 to 2000. Her unwavering commitment to the citizens of Denton County has left an indelible mark on our community.
Our hearts go out to Commissioner Mitchell, her family, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. We extend our deepest condolences on the loss of Fred Mitchell, a devoted husband and community member.
We are grateful to the Lewisville Police Department for their swift response and ongoing investigation. The suspect is in custody and faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
We ask the community to join us in keeping Commissioner Mitchell and her family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
