Our hearts are breaking for our neighbors in Western NC. If you’re out hiking or chasing fall leaf color 🍂🍁 in the Georgia mountains this weekend, please help us help Trailful Outdoor Co. send much-needed supplies to the NC mountains.

Our hearts are heavy for our mountain neighbors who were devastated by Hurricane Helene. We’re both humbled and immensely grateful that our families and local community made it through last week’s storm with minimal loss. Here in Hiawassee, power and infrastructure were restored quickly, thanks to the hard work of our local utilities, and our local small businesses are open and ready for the autumn season.

But seeing the massive destruction in the places we’ve loved, lived, hiked and explored for decades is heartbreaking and devastating. The storm's impact on our mountain neighbors has truly broken our hearts. We’re also filled with immense gratitude for all volunteers and organizations on the ground helping, and we’ve been sending donations to the many organizations distributing aid all week.

Our friends .mori.photography safely evacuated to Hiawassee from Asheville, and they will be headed back to their home on Monday. We’d love to help them fill their vehicles with supplies for their community. We’ll be accepting donation drop-offs at our shop in downtown Hiawassee this weekend, so if you have anything to spare, please consider dropping off first aid kits, Benadryl, pain releivers, bug spray, flash lights, sleeping bags, batteries, headlamps, camp stoves or camping equipment to our shop at 75 North Main this week.

We're excited to announce that we're expanding Trailful, our hiking shop near the Appalachian Trail, into a historic space in Hiawassee!

We’ve got exciting news to share: Trailful is moving! Just down Main Street from our current little hiking shop sits this beautiful historic brick building near the Hiawassee town square. It had been vacant for years and in need of some serious TLC. So we’ve been working hard to spruce it up and give it a makeover while keeping its historic charm. We’re so excited to show you everything we’ve done, and can’t wait to invite you to check out our new space!

To make our move, we’ll be closing our Trailful shop on Monday, June 29, and will reopen in our new digs before the 4th of July weekend. We’ll be offering curbside service next week while we’re moving, so if you’re out on the Appalachian Trail and need to stop by for gear or resupply – or if you’ve had your eye on a new ENO hammock and can’t wait to hang out and chill – just give us a call at 706-521-HIKE and we’ll get you set up.

We’re so excited for the opportunity to revitalize this historic piece of Hiawassee history and vastly expand our selection of top hiking gear, apparel, books and outdoorsy gifts. And we can’t wait to show you what we've been working on!

Great news! The US Forest Service just announced the reopening of access to the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, as well as connecting trails, just in time for the weekend. We've added those to our list of over 130 of our favorite trails that are currently open in Georgia: https://www.atlantatrails.com/georgia-trails-currently-open/

Where ever your adventures take you, please always remember to leave no trace, avoid overcrowding the trail, and respect these wild places that we love.

When the Atlanta Trails crew moved to the North Georgia Mountains a few years ago, we couldn't wait to follow our dreams of opening a hiking outfitter shop near the Appalachian Trail. And last year, Trailful Outdoor Co was born!
