⚾️ The Hornets struck first and outhit Mt. Pulaski 5-4, but couldn’t muster enough offense in the Regional Championship, falling 3-1.

Tristan Crow allowed just three hits in 4.2 innings of work and plated Jackson Law for Heyworth’s lone run on a first inning double. Heyworth loaded the bases twice later in the game, but were unable to cut into the MP lead.

Some highlights from yesterday's Regional win:

  The Heyworth Hornets picked up a 4-0 victory over Lutheran High on Thursday in 1A regional semifinal. Boston Katz helped lead the way for the Hornets with seven innings pitched, five hits allowed and 13 strikeouts.

⚾️ Boston Katz scattered five hits and struck out 13 during a complete-game effort that propelled Heyworth to a 4-0 win over Springfield Lutheran in Regional action at Mt. Pulaski today. Caleb Troha’s fourth inning single put the Hornets up 2-0, while Caleb Zellers and Parker Bell added insurance runs with their bats. Heyworth advances to the Regional Championship and will face the host school at 11:00am on Saturday at Veterans Park in Mt. Pulaski.

⚾️ The Hornets closed the regular-season by hosting #14 Armstrong at home. Boston Katz was solid on the mound, but Heyworth was unable to generate enough offense during a 3-1 loss.

⚾️ JV closed its season with a gutsy come from behind win over LeRoy at home, 5-4, in nine innings.

The Hornets strung together four consecutive singles with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to prevail, as Cole Mammen, Kellar Biggs, and Connor Patrick all reached in order ahead of Nate Godfrey’s walkoff winner. Biggs and Keegan Troha combined to allow one run in eight innings of relief.

⚾️ Heyworth earned a 2-1 road win at Prairie Central in eight innings today. Tristan Crow was masterful on the mound, striking out 10 in seven innings, while Jeffrey Klawitter shut the door in the eighth to earn the save. Caleb Troha’s third hit of the game plated Jackson Law in the top of the frame, which proved to be the game-winning run.

⚾️ The Hornets knocked off LeRoy, 7-2, today at Illinois Wesleyan in the Heart of Illinois Conference Showcase. Braydon Laesch had a strong start, throwing 5.2 innings, while also adding two of the team’s nine hits.

JV dropped a pair at home to Champaign Central.

⚾️ Boston Katz limited Olympia to a pair of hits and drove in three run as the Hornets knocked off Olympia, 7-1, at home today.

JV fell to the Spartans on the road, 10-6.

⚾️ Carter Brooks started and earned the win on the mound, while six Hornets recorded RBIs in a 13-2 road win at Cornerstone Christian.

⚾️ The Hornets earned the #4 seed in their IHSA Class 1A Regional today.

They will face #5 Calvary Academy from Springfield at Mt. Pulaski High School in their opening Regional contest.

Game date (likely May 27 or 28) and time will be announced tomorrow.
