The Hewlett Swim Club is a member of the Nassau County Municipal Swim Conference (NMSC) Winter League. Our swimmers are grouped by gender and age (8 & under, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 13 & over).
**Cathy Parris is the Head Coach for the 2021-22 season. Coach Cathy will be assisted by Coach Mary Vita and Coach Fred Jacobowitz. This is not a program where you come to swim for personal conditioning or fun.
YOU are expected to participate as a TEAM MEMBER on a COMPETITIVE LEVEL. The Hewlett Swim Club is open to Hewlett-Woodmere School District residents. Swimmers ages 5 to 16 are welcome. Your age on November 1 is your age for the season. This is not a swim instruction program. Hewlett Swim Club members are competitive swimmers. Children should be able-bodied swimmers, and be able to demonstrate stroke and breathing skills for all competitive strokes (commonly Red Cross-level 4 or higher). Those who are unable to swim continuously using rhythmic breathing and competitive strokes should not register. Participants should be committed to swimming in a team program; sportsmanship and teamwork are important elements of the Hewlett Swim Club experience. The Hewlett Swim Club practices four nights per week, Monday through Thursday, in the Hewlett High School pool. Participants must commit to attending NO LESS THAN TWO practice sessions per week in order to be eligible for any competition. You are expected to participate as a team member on a
competitive level.
**For this season, Hewlett Swim Club practices begin Monday, October 16th and go through the championship meet. This date is determined by the Swim Conference, and is usually late March/early April. Competitions are held on weekends (mostly Saturdays), as well as some week nights. There will be approximately **[5] swim meets between December and March/early April. Many of the swim meets BEGIN AS EARLY as 6:00 A.M. PARENTS ARE INVITED TO VOLUNTEER in several capacities. Speak to a coach about volunteering when you register. ALL NEW SWIMMERS ARE REQUIRED TO TRY OUT FOR THE HEWLETT SWIM CLUB. Skill assessment is required for children who are considering joining the swim club. These sessions provide an opportunity for the coaches to determine if a swimmer has the basic skills necessary to enjoy participating in the swim club. Swimmers will be notified immediately if their abilities are up to competitive level or if additional swim lessons are required. SWIM CLUB PRACTICE SESSIONS:
