Congratulations to the Joe Valley Memorial Scholarship recipients for the 2025-2026 academic year …
Anthony McClatchey ‘26 (l.) and Samuel Perez-Gonzales ’27 (r.).
This Award, created in memory of former Father Judge student, athlete, teacher, coach, and leader, Joe Valley ‘65, is given annually to one or more members of the Cross-Country / Track & Field program. Sam and AJ earned this honor by consistently demonstrating satisfactory performance in the classroom, being model team members and leaders, and exhibiting the characteristics of a Salesian Gentleman.
AJ is a senior co-captain of the Indoor and Outdoor Track teams. During his time at Judge, he has distinguished himself as one of the top sprinters in the team’s history, earning All Catholic honors an amazing 14 times, and holding a school record as a member of the Indoor 4x400m Relay team that set the record last year. AJ is an outstanding student as well and is a member of the National Honor Society. In the short-term, AJ has his sights set on the school record in the 400m. Post-graduation, he plans to attend college and be a member of the Track team.
Sam is a junior co-captain of the Cross-Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track Teams. Sam had an outstanding XC season this past Fall. He was one of the top runners in the PCL and in PA, winning several races throughout the season, and earning first team All Catholic honors. His PR of 17:00 at Belmont Plateau ranks #16 on Judge’s all-time top 25. Sam earned third team All Catholic in Outdoor Track last Spring and is expected to be one of the top distance runners in the area in the upcoming Indoor and Outdoor seasons. Sam plans to continue solidifying his place among Judge’s elite distance runners this year and next, and aims to attend college and be a member of the XC and Track teams.
This award, made possible by generous gifts from Judge alumni, families, and friends, will enable these young men to complete their education at Father Judge, and continue to reap the benefits of that experience in the years to come.
