I began my natural horsemanship journey by attending a Parelli tour stop in 2004. I was 15 years old, and I decided THIS was what I wanted to do with my life. Our whole barn in the San Juan Islands in Washington State, made a switch to PNH, and there was no looking back. My grey Arab mare and I were asked to participate in two tour stops in 2006. I also wanted to graduate from college, and thus help to raise the level of professionalism in the horse industry, so I began at Linfield College in 2007 from where I would graduate a year early in 2010, with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Then in the winter of 2009 I was offered a 6 wk internship at Atwood Ranch in CA, which I quickly jumped at during my winter quarter off from school; 6 weeks soon turned into 9 months and I finished my degree on-line during that time. I had the amazing opportunity to assist in running the Young Horse Development program for those 9 months; during which we prepared AR yearlings and performed with them at Redmond, OR, Fresno, CA, and the Performance Summit in 2010; as well as helping match them to forever homes. After my time at Atwood I returned to Florida where I was lucky enough to get to spend half my time studying under Kalley at the Foundation Station, and the other half riding and playing with Linda and her horses! Since then I have continued my journey riding and learning with many different trainers across disciplines. Im excited to bring my own background and feel to your horsemanship journey!

Vita Gurrrl... and I have been blessed to sneak in a few trail rides these last few weeks. She is becoming calm and confident to ride out alone... and has some of the same joy for the trails her mama did. Confident solo trail riding is one of those things that can be taught for sure.... but I think for both horses and humans there is a deep innate joy for it; or not :). Angus never loved it... he would do it for me, but would MUCH rather we pony another horse along as well :). I have been holding my breath to see if Vita would have the same spark for solo adventures that her mama did, and I think I have my answer :).

Helpful horses... helpful humans. One of the most important qualities we can build in our horses and ourselves :). Horses love having a focus...

And feeling a horse fill in for you to help make it easier is one of the coolest feelings in the world ;)

Angy, my 16 yr old helping me load Kayla's 2 yr old AQHA gelding, Solo at the end of the day ;)

Solo got a quick session after my wvening workout last night cause it was just too beautiful. Really proid of how this 2 yr old QH is coming along accepting the saddle and understanding rhythmic motion vs rhythmic pressure.

This is one of my favorite gentling excercises for helping colts accept the saddle. I use a long soft rope and then practice flipping it from nose to tail on each side....

It provides so many benefits! First it helps young horses tune into my energy and understand what is a stimulus they need to respond to, and what is something they should tune out and relax about. You can even see at one point I ask Solo to step into the trot from the rhythmic pressure of the rope as well! This is a great example of how you tesch a horse to be sensitive, but also gentle :). Its all about understanding intention.
