🌿 SEPTEMBER | LIMB OF THE MONTH 🌿
This month at Yoga Barn Utah, we’re beginning a journey through the Eight Limbs of Yoga, taking one limb at a time and allowing its teachings to move beyond the mat and into everyday life.
We’re beginning with AHIMSA — Non-harming.
Ahimsa is the practice of approaching ourselves, others, and the world with greater awareness of the harm we create—sometimes intentionally, but often through habit, force, judgment, or expectation.
This month, notice where you create unnecessary force:
in your body, your thoughts, your speech, your relationships, and your expectations of yourself.
Rather than asking, “How can I push through this?”
Consider asking, “Can I meet this with a little less force?”
🌾 Practice: Notice one place each day where you can soften without avoiding what needs to be faced.
📖 Journal prompt: Where in my life am I using force when gentleness might serve me better? What would it look like to practice ahimsa toward myself—not as avoidance, but as compassion?
Throughout September, we’ll return to this teaching in our classes, practices, and reflections.
Ahimsa isn’t simply being gentle. It is becoming more conscious of the way we move through the world.
