Alchemy Ballet's Pop-Up Company comes to the Middleburg Community Center for a special one-hour performance celebrating the culmination of our week-long intensive.

Midsummer Nocturne: Minkus to Mingus, Chopin to Copland celebrates the artistry of Alchemy Ballet's emerging dancers and special guest artists in a dynamic program that moves seamlessly from classical masterworks to contemporary creations, lyrical storytelling, and spellbinding jazz.

Under the artistic direction of Lorraine Audeoud Spiegler, audiences will experience works set to music by Ludwig Minkus, Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, Aaron Copland, Frédéric Chopin, Roberta Flack, Hans Zimmer, and more.

Highlights include selections from Don Quixote and Swan Lake, Luis Serrano's Luis Serrano Las Simples Cosas from Esencia, the acclaimed duet Orange Was the Color of Her Dress, then Blue Silk performed by guest artist Matthew McLaughlin Matthew and Alchemy Ballet alumna Abigail Walker Abby Walker , and an exclusive preview of Alchemy Ballet's upcoming production of The Blue Bird.

Following the performance, guests are invited to a reception with light refreshments.

Artistic Director Lorraine Audeoud Spiegler has brought together two of the greatest traditions in men's classical ballet—the legendary Russian and Cuban schools—to create something truly exceptional.

By uniting internationally acclaimed artists Stanislav Issaev Stanislav Issaev and Luis Serrano Luis Serrano , she is building an innovative Men's Ballet Program that combines the finest qualities of both traditions under one roof. This unique collaboration merges the elegance, artistry, and classical refinement of the Russian school with the power, virtuosity, athleticism, and dynamic technique of the Cuban tradition. The result is a new generation of men's ballet training—one designed to prepare young dancers for the highest levels of the profession.

For aspiring male dancers in the DC-MD-VA area, there has never been an opportunity quite like this.

Cuban School Training Week
Immerse yourself in classical ballet training in the Cuban style! The one week intensive includes repertoire from Don Quixote (Cuban style), Latin Rhythms of Cuba (salsa, danzón, cha-cha-cha, mambo), and Cuban Fusion Flamenco/Character work. The week culminates in an in-studio showing for family and friends, celebrating process, artistry, and performance.

Luis Serrano
Former principal dancer, Artistic Director, and choreographer trained at the Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba and former Artistic Director of Monterrey Ballet (Mexico). He brings Cuban methodological rigor to his teaching, leading boys’ and men’s training and mentoring dancers through precise, musical, and versatile performance development.

Alanna Sibrián, Guest Artist
Bilingual performer, choreographer, and teaching artist working across dance, theater, music, and film. NYU Tisch graduate and CityDance alum with an active creative practice as a writer and collaborator. Focused on musicality, storytelling, and performance presence. alannasibrian.com

Lorraine Audéoud Spiegler
Artistic Director, Alchemy Ballet brings her in-person knowledge of the National Ballet of Cuba training to this workshop as well as her intercultural and interdisciplinary focus. She continues to shape a globally minded, performance-driven training environment.
