The DC Stars will not hold tryouts or field a team for the 22/23 season. We are sorry to those who already signed up for tryouts. It has been a fun 2 years! It has also been stressful…running a team is tough. The stress finally caught up, and we had other extenuating circumstances that caused this season to go in a different direction than intended. Life circumstances change and goals change. Coach Rob and I would like to focus solely and completely on our incredibly talented daughter, Lyla. She has had to share her dad with other players her entire softball “career” and we are excited to be able to just be supportive parents. We didn’t see this coming until around 3/4 the way through this season, but we are honestly relieved with the end result and excited for this next chapter. To every amazing girl that has ever worn a DC Stars uniform: you will always hold a special place in our hearts. We did this to provide a place for a special founding group of girls to play in a more competitive arena, and we enjoyed every moment of seeing each of them on the field. We love each and every girl that has come through our program, and we have loved watching them grow and succeed on our teams as well as the teams many of them are currently on. We have always wanted the best for each girl, whether that be with us or another team. We would like to thank the many coaches that helped us start out and the coaches that have helped maintain us along the way: Ryan Ashby, Steven Brown, Brian Cocke, David Whitehead, BJ Smith, Chip Moore, Pamela Marshall, Michael Stotler, Kyle Shelton, and Michael Brower. We may not have always seen eye to eye, but we always had the same goal: to see these girls succeed in the game of softball. We would also like to thank the many parents who helped with music, gamechanger, keeping the book, recording the games, raising funds, getting their girls to practice, and spending long days at the fields. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, we would like to thank the many people and businesses that financially supported the girls in the last 2 years. We could not have done anything without your support. We wish the best for everyone, and hopefully we will continue to see many of you at the fields!
