Hermiston FC welcomed NCW United FC to butte field for their final home game and last game of the WPL season on Mother’s Day. HFC started of the game in amazing fashion. The defense and offense were on top of their game the entire first half. VanderStelt got it going with the first goal in the 12 minute of the game with a rocket from just outside the 18 yard box. The defense stayed stout and together not letting NCW get anything going. The limited NCW to very few shots over all. HFC knocked in 3 more goals, two for them coming via PK before the half.

The second half was more of the same. HFC kept the defense strong and allowed no holes. The team kept them same tempo as they did the first half. NCW defense kept it at 4-0 more the most part of the second half. Their offense got a few good looks on goal but the defense and goalie stood strong and never let one leak past them. Vanderstelt got the lone goal in the second half of a corner kick. HFC played the short pass just outside of the box to put one in the backside corner of the net to end the game. HFC came out to ensure they won their final game of the season at home. HFC took the game with a huge 5-0 win to go UNDEFEATED in the WPL league. Ending the seasons with a flawless 6-0 record to become League Champions.

Washington East Surf Soccer Club-1

Hermiston FC traveled to Mead, WA to go toe to toe with Washington East Surf. A big battle on a warm sunny day. The first half both teams were locked in. The start of the game did not disappoint at all. It was a tight match with a lot of physicality. Both teams were locking for the opening to capitalize. Each team had beautiful shots and good opportunities to soccer in the first 30 minutes but the keepers kept their poise by not letting on go by. At the 31st minute McCord got loose on the outside, her second touch came off a little harder than needed making the goalie believe it was a 50/50 ball. The Surf goalie came out of the box on a foot race and McCord got the first touch to shift the ball past the keeper to finish with an open net shot for the games first goal. At the 40 minute mark, McCord got loose on the outside again in a foot raise with the defense. After reaching the inside of the box McCord got tripped up from behind, which awarded HFC a penalty shot. Rose was given the nod to take the shot. Rose stepped up big by putting the penalty shot by the keeper in the top right corner of the net. HFC would go up 2-0 at the half.

As the second half got off to a physical start the teams just couldn’t get anything going. Both teams would make it down the field in both sides of the ball to get shots on net but couldn’t get one to go. As the day got hotter the games got more and more chippy. Emotions were getting high during the second half. Neither team would back down. The defense on both teams was stellar and kept everything in-front of them. With the pushing, shoving and the jaw jacking increasing the ref had to step in a few times to calm the storm. The last play of the game by Surf was a corner kick to get their one and only goal past the HFC defense. After a long and hot battle HFC walked of the field with a 2-1 victory on the road.

Spokane Legacy Soccer Academy-1

Hermiston FC traveled to Spokane, WA to take on Spokane Legacy Soccer Academy on a warm day for soccer. The first 20 minutes was a shoot out and a duel with lots of shots but nothing to show for it. A couple players got loose on both sides of the ball but the defense played well enough to not let one get pass the goalie. HFC at the 20 and 26 minute mark put up back to back goals to build some confidence and some momentum in the game. Spokane Lecacy did not back down. They got out on a breakaway 33 minutes into the game and had a 50/50 keeper player battle to put one past the defense with the goalie scrambling to get back in the net. This would end the half at a close one with a 2-1 HFC score.

During the second half HFC did not allow Spokane Legacy to get anything going. Even being a hot day and a few players injured HFC came out in the second with vengeance. The HFC as a whole played locked down defense. It took Hermiston FC 57 minutes into the game to get their 3rd goal of the game but after that everything just fell in place. After being up 3-1 Carrillo, De La Paz and Borden put in 3 goals within a 5 minute span to cap off the game in a dominating fashion. The heat beat up on both teams but the HFC ladies did not allow it to knock them out of their game. A complete team win with injuries and players being out. HFC came to dominate the day and take one on the road.

Hells Canyon FC-2

Hermiston FC welcomed Hells canyon FC for a beautiful day for soccer at Butte Park for their second home game. As the first half started and continued, it was alot of back and forth play. Some really good opportunities from both sides of the ball. It looked like both teams were trying to figure each other out. The defense looked solid on both sides of the ball.

As the second half opened up Hermiston FC came out with a different attitude. They came out to control the game. B. Martinez came out scoring back to back goals early in the second half to get things going for HFC. Hells canyon would answer with a goal shortly after to try to calm the game down and get HFC of their game. As it stayed 2-1 for 10 minutes then HFC came out and scored back to back goals to build off the first two goals now making it 4-1. After the lead grew HFC left another one get past the keeper to make in 4-2 with 15 min to go in the game. Hermiston FC never looked back and popped off for 2 more goals at the end of the game, sealing the deal with a 6-2 victory. The slow starting game turned into a scoring frenzy in the second half to cap off a beautiful day for soccer.

HFC GHS is officially kicking off its spring season….

Tryouts will be held at the Butte Fields in Hermiston.

Tryout dates are the 24th and 25th of January from 1pm till 330pm. There will be 2 days. First day will be conditioning and a scrimmage. Followed by a second day for ball skills, team building and a scrimmage.

All the information about the season will be put out at tryouts.

WPL Season End.

Hermiston FC finished 2nd place in league with an outstanding record of 4-0-2 and only two goals allow all season.

Hermiston FC GHS’s first club season has come to an end. A story has been created. A group of girls from a small town and some from a small town outside of that small town.

In February a group of girls showed up for try outs, not really knowing what it can or could become. Seeing girls, you know and some you had no idea even existed. To ending a season in 2nd place against clubs that have been together for years.

Memories were made, stories were written, and history has been set. Blood was shed; tears were lost but the love of the game stayed the same.

Congratulations to these phenomenal women and ladies for all the hard work and dedication it takes to play on this stage. Always be you, always be your best and never give up. You are all a coach’s dream and nothing short of a blessing.

One last time, Congratulations ladies on your amazing and fantastic season.
