Thankful Friday…
Yesterday was a day right out of a Norman Rockwell picture.
The place.
Helen and Patrick Doherty’s house.
A fire pit alit outside for those wanting fresh air and a cool place to rest and catch up. As you open the door you are immediately met with friendly faces and the smells of cooked turkey and sweet pumpkin pies. Tables were set for royalty.
Gold utensils wrapped with autumn napkins and wired black holders, placed on wheat pressed china plates. As you make your way into the open kitchen a large marble counter is splashed with every manner of holiday delicacy. A large charcuterie with loaded meets and cheeses, salads, dips, several large desserts dressed with rich creams and bright cherries. Every inch of countertop filled with food fit for a king. Soft music playing in the background as folks chatted excitedly about their lives and adventures over the past year. My sister Helen always has a fun game for us to humiliate ourselves with and drop any remaining gawkiness. As in our tradition we open the festivities with prayer.
With eyes closed, like we did 60 plus years ago in a small house with just the 8 of us. Mom and dad keeping the light on for us on the other side. We now point the way to this next generation of Moores.
Thank You Jesus
Thank you Helen and Packy💜💜💜
