The first Esko team to ever go to Nationals, and only the second team in the Greater North region, had a tough one, but made us proud! They threw everything they could at Kentucky Lake. Izaac and Chase put in many, many hours researching, strategizing, planning and preparing for this event. Pre-fishing the Lake earlier in the year: they put in the work. They found big fish, but could not get any fish over 15” in the boat (like they did the three days before, pre-fishing the same spot, same time, same lures).
They were in good company: of the 216 teams, 70+ teams did not land a keeper the second day. Another 30 +teams landed only 1. It was tough.

So, congratulations to the 25 teams that made it to the fish off today. We wish you Luck!

This was a great experience for Izaac and Chase and has made them hungry to redeem themselves at southern tournaments in college. They are anxious to put in the work and get more experience to do better next time.

Even though they didn’t get on the big fish, we couldn’t be prouder of how they represented us! Walking across that stage was the hardest thing they’ve ever done, but they wanted to make sure to thank the people that got them here and stand tall with the effort they put forth. They’ve carved a path of integrity for future Esko teams to follow. Good job, boys!

You’ll get em next time!

Jesse says it was a brutal day fishing today… we did catch fish, but they were under the 15” limit. Lost one that would have weighed in. Our spots didn’t produce like they did Sunday-Tuesday..
Definitely disappointing, we will try again tomorrow!

So proud of the way these two young men are handling the disappointment and buoyed by the number of competing teams encouraging them to not give up! They’ve all been in the same boat. Tomorrow’s another day!
Go get ‘em boys!

We are in Paris Tennessee participating in the 2026 B.A.S.S.Master High School National Championship. This is not a place we were expecting to be 3 years ago when we started this program. Fishing on the Esko high school fishing team has changed the trajectory of our journeys and expectations. We are proud to represent Esko and Minnesota at this event. We are going to try our best to catch “Dings” (big Bass) this week. We would to thank the people and businesses that have supported the program and us to be able to get us here.
That includes; our parents, specifically Landa (Zimmer) for pushing us to try this and managing the program for 2 years. Maya Carroll for being part of the board of directors for the program. Aaron Strickland for volunteering his time to boat captain for us the first year of this journey. Jesse (Zimmer) for taking over in that role. (Uncle) Jamie Zimmer for the use of his boat. We would like to thank Sarah Wells for getting this program set up at Esko school. Also we would like to thank all the businesses that support this program for all the kids involved. We would not be here without you!
For this specific event; we would like to thank; RJ Sport and Cycle, Cirrus Aircraft, VCS construction, Marine General, Outdoor Advantage, Patriot Bait Molds and MN Junior B.A.S.S. Nation.

The Esko High School Fishing team competed on Lake Vermillion this past Thursday 7/16. The conditions were a little smokey, but fish were biting! This was the last regional qualifier of the year. Cooper Greiner and Jaxson Siats along with Sawyer Hipp and Owen Cawcutt qualified to fish the last chance qualifier tournament on Sturgeon Lake on August 3rd for a chance to make the state tournament. Brennan Gerard and Alton Perrault finished 5th overall for the year and got the last automatic qualification spot to the state tournament on Leech Lake on September 12-13. Congrats on a good year to all of our teams!

Th Esko Jr High Anglers fished their qualifying tournament on Wednesday June 24th at Lake Minnewawa. The weather held out long enough for a good day of fishing. 9 teams competed from Esko which is the most we have had on the Jr side ever! 4 of our teams qualified for the MN BASS Jr State Tournament in July on Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids! Looking forward to another fun day of fishing for all!
Congrats to the state qualifiers including 2nd place Ryan Feely and Ethan Parrott, 5th place Owen Straub and Jack Sheridan, 9th place Jordy Bryant and Eli Belich, and 10th place Mason Godfrey and Austin Berglund!
