Legacy Swim Club Formerly Nova South Swimmingβ€”this page
is to promote our youth swimmers! Our team has a culture of personal connection and a focus on individual progress.

Victim or Victor - it’s a choice. πŸ¦βŒπŸ‘ Virginia Association for Competitive Swimming (VACS) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the promotion of competitive swimming in the greater Tri-Cities Virginia Area. VACS offers instruction, training, and competition to young people of all ages and abilities. In the summer of 2013, VACS aligned themselves with NOVA so that we could have a lar

ger presence at meets and access to state, regional and national opportunities. Both teams retain governance of themselves while they both represent the name NOVA. VACS is also known as Nova South. Nova South serves swimmers from the cities of Hopewell, Petersburg, and Colonial Heights, as well as Prince George, Dinwiddie, and southern Chesterfield counties. We are convenient to Fort Lee and welcome the many new members of the growing military family in our community.

What’s your legacy?

For us, legacy is built one swimmer, one practice, one relationship, and one season at a time.

NOVA South is becoming Legacy Swim Club.

Our roots go back to 1969, when VACS was established as one of the first year-round swim programs in this area. In 2013, the program became NOVA South. Now, we are carrying that history forward with a name and identity of our own. πŸ–€πŸ’›

Legacy is not just about where we started. It is about what we continue to build.

It is the athletes who grow up here. 🏊
The coaches who once swam here and came back to lead. πŸ“£
The families who believe in this program. πŸ–€
The teammates who become part of each other’s story. πŸ’›

Same coaches.
Same facilities.
Same standards.
Same commitment to helping athletes grow as swimmers and people.

Now with a clearer identity, stronger visibility, and a name that reflects who we are and where we are headed. 🦁

Three of our own took on NCSA Junior National Championships in Orlando this week πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ”₯ and if you know, you know… this meet is FAST.

This is the kind of week that tests everything. Early wake-up swims, long timelines, freezing cold mornings on deck πŸ₯Ά, grocery runs and figuring out how to feed yourself all week (or just hoping Brendan makes you ham and cheese balls), then turning around for finals warm-ups… whether you’re swimming or not… and being back on deck until 8 PM every night.

It’s a grind. And they handled it like pros πŸ’ͺ

This was Ryan’s third and final NCSA Juniors, Brendan’s second and final, and Landon qualifying this year as a sophomore, tying the standard and stepping onto this stage for the first time πŸ‘

Different journeys, same level of toughness, resilience, and ownership all week.

And more than anything, they were just… themselves. Great teammates, great energy, and the kind of kids you want representing your team πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ’–

Such a fantastic week. So proud of these three 🦁 🦁 🦁

NOVA Short Course Send-Off β€” Day 2: 11 & Overs πŸ’₯πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

What a way to CLOSE OUT the meet!! This session had it all β€” incredible racing, best times, and even some fun with the blocks too! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

One of the highlights of the session πŸ‘‡
πŸ’₯ Terrell vs. Jaiden in a 50 fly SHOWDOWN!! Both dropped 2 seconds, went 2-3 in their heat, and raced it all the way to the wall β€” Terrell with the out-touch! Jaiden also hit a NEW AGC Bonus Cut in the event!! πŸ‘

And the momentum kept going:

πŸ”₯ KP went ALL best times β€” 13-second drop in 200 back, almost 4 seconds in 50 back, and nearly 2 seconds in 100 free!
πŸ”₯ Abby closed out the meet strong with a best time in her 200 IM!
πŸ”₯ Bre brought the energy all session, raced tough, and was right off her times!

Such a fun, high-energy way to wrap up an awesome meet πŸ’™ So proud of this group and how they showed up, competed, and supported each other!

NOVA Short Course Send-Off β€” Day 2: 10 & Unders! πŸ’™πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Another FUN session full of energy, teamwork, and awesome swims!! The stopwatches ⏱️ were still a huge hit (everyone wanted a turn πŸ˜‚), plus some Lego building and LOTS of cheering for teammates!

This crew showed up ready to race and it definitely paid off:

✨ Ayan dropped 5 seconds in his 100 IM for another BB time and cut 2 seconds in his 50 fly!
✨ Caroline Rae dropped over a second in her 100 IM and followed it up with a 2-second drop in her 100 back for a BB time!
✨ Judy Mae went ALL best times β€” 25 back, 100 free, and a HUGE 21-second drop in her 100 back!! πŸ”₯
✨ Fraya dropped 8 seconds in her 100 IM and finished so strong πŸ’ͺ
✨ Antony went best times in both his 100 IM and 100 free, dropping almost 2 seconds in each!
✨ Brantlee went all best times in 25 back and 100 free, with a 4-second drop in his 100 free!
✨ Michael swam a legal 25 back for a best time and was right off his 100 free time!
✨ Gracelynn crushed a nearly 6-second best time in her 25 back!

So proud of this group β€” the effort, excitement, and support for each other made it such a great day πŸ’™

NOVA Short Course Send-Off β€” Session 2 with our 11 & overs! πŸ’₯πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

This group brought ALL the energy this afternoon β€” from rocking every pair of glasses in Abby’s bag πŸ€“ to some hilarious bickering πŸ˜‚ and awesome team bonding. Such a fun session to be part of!

Even with some close misses, this crew showed up BIG with strong racing and some great best times:

πŸ”₯ Terrell dropped over half a second in his 50 free winning his heat AND had a huge almost 8-second drop in his 100 fly!
πŸ”₯ KP went under :29 in his 50 free with almost a second drop AND crushed a 27-second drop in his 200 free!!
πŸ”₯ Jaiden dropped over a second for a best time in his 100 back!
πŸ”₯ Caroline powered through her 200 BR with almost a 4-second drop!
πŸ”₯ Abby raced tough and hit a best time in her 100 back!

So proud of how this group competed, supported each other, and kept the energy high all session long πŸ’™

We also need to do a better job and take more photos tomorrow πŸ€ͺ

What a FUN crew that absolutely rocked it this morning at the NOVA Short Course Send-Off!! πŸ₯³

We had the best time racing, playing stopwatch games (trying to hit the exact same time ⏱️), dancing, rock paper scissors βœ‚οΈ, and of course… β€œ67”! πŸ˜‚

So proud of this group and all their hard work:

✨ Ayan dropped 6 seconds in his 100 BR for a new BB time AND hit a best time in his 50 FR!
✨ Lily crushed an 8-second drop in her 100 BR and snagged a best time in 50 back!
✨ Caroline Rae swam her FIRST 100 BR and did amazing β€” plus matched her exact time in the 50 free!
✨ Fraya tackled her FIRST 200 IM and raced it all the way to the finish πŸ’ͺ plus stayed right on her times in 50 FR & 50 BK!
✨ Brantlee swam his FIRST 50 back (legal πŸ‘) and dropped over a second in his 25 free!
✨ Michael swam his FIRST 50 free & 50 back, both legal, and raced his heats so well!

Couldn’t be prouder of this crew β€” the effort, energy, and smiles made it such a special morning πŸ’™πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ
