March 17. Muay Thai Day. And most people have no idea why. 🥊

Here's the story...

The Burmese army destroys the Thai capital of Ayutthaya and takes thousands of prisoners. One of them is a fighter named Nai Khanomtom.

Seven years later the Burmese King decides to hold a festival. He wants entertainment. He knows Nai Khanomtom can fight so he offers him a deal — beat our best fighters and we'll set you free.

Nai Khanomtom doesn't just beat one.

He beats nine of them. Back to back. No rest between fights. Each one a fresh opponent. The Burmese fighters are some of the best in the region and he dismantles every single one.

The King is so impressed he says the man's hands and feet have magic in them. He gives him his freedom on the spot.

That moment — one man, nine fights, everything on the line — is why we celebrate March 17 as Muay Thai Day.

I've been training this art for 15 years. Had 35 fights of my own. And every time I think a training session is hard I think about what Nai Khanomtom walked into that day.

We didn't just inherit a fighting system. We inherited something with real blood and history behind it.
