Year-round swim lessons are key to building confidence, improving technique, and developing strong, safe swimmers. Consistency in the water helps children retain skills, refine their strokes, and feel more comfortable in a variety of aquatic environments.

Good afternoon. As a precaution, we are cancelling swim lessons and swim practice this evening. According to the Weather Channel, Henderson will be hit by two lines of storms this evening between 4:30 and 8:00 pm.

As a reminder : If lightning strikes within 6 miles of our facility, we are required to close both of our pools immediately. We cannot reopen until lightning has remained more than 6 miles away for at least 30 minutes.
If swim lessons must be canceled due to weather, we will schedule make-up lessons during a break week or on an alternate evening.

For now, we plan to hold our make up lesson on June 15th. The times will be the same.

We appreciate your understanding; safety is always our top priority.

As our YMCA Annual Campaign – 10 Days of Giving comes to a close, we are celebrating what your generosity is making possible through our Safety Around Water Program!

Meet Layla - a third grader from Jefferson Elementary School. She was one of the 491 students who gained confidence around water this school year.

On day one, Layla sat on the bleachers—quiet, hesitant, and unsure about getting into the water.
By day two, she stepped in.
By day three, she had signed up for group swim lessons because she wanted to keep going. Just yesterday-she jumped in the deep end and went fully under water!💦

Her parents saw her confidence growing in real time and chose to continue investing in her safety and future.

That’s the ripple effect of this program.
One child gains confidence.
One family finds hope.
One community changes lives together.

🍪❤️ During our 10 Days of Giving, we want to recognize someone making a BIG impact at the YMCA — Bob!

Bob, a valued member of both our YMCA family and staff team, has been baking and selling homemade cookies in our lobby while sharing the story of our Rock Steady Boxing Program. Thanks to his passion, dedication, and generosity, he has already raised an incredible $1,350 toward our Annual Campaign!

Bob’s efforts are a perfect example of what makes our YMCA so special — people coming together to support programs that change lives right here in the Henderson County community.
