$15,000 - and an incredible investment in ACCESS for our community! đź’™
Last night, the Henderson County Family YMCA was incredibly honored to receive the $15,000 Partnership of Women (POW!) grant!
We are humbled, grateful, and especially excited about what this investment will mean for people throughout our community.
These funds will help us purchase adaptive fitness equipment that will allow individuals with limited mobility, disabilities, chronic health conditions, or those transitioning from rehabilitation to continue building strength, endurance, cardiovascular health, and independence at the YMCA.
It will also help us replace our aging pool lift, something that means much more than simply getting someone into the water.
For a person with limited mobility, using a pool lift can already feel vulnerable. Having an older lift that may hesitate or stop can leave someone sitting there, wondering how long they will be the center of attention. A new, reliable lift provides something just as important as physical access... it provides confidence and dignity. It allows someone to enter our warm-water pool knowing the equipment will work safely and reliably, without the fear of an embarrassing situation.
But there is something more about this grant that deserves special recognition.
POW! didn't simply read grant applications and write checks.
Their members took the time to visit the organizations they were considering. They came into our YMCA. They listened. They asked questions. They saw the needs firsthand and worked to understand how their investment could make the greatest difference.
That level of thoughtfulness is special.
To every member of Partnership of Women - THANK YOU.
Thank you for the investment, but even more importantly, thank you for caring enough to learn about the people behind the request.
Because of you, people who previously faced barriers to exercise and wellness will soon have new opportunities to become stronger, healthier and more independent.
At the YMCA, our mission ends with two very important words:
FOR ALL.
Your partnership is helping us live those words. ❤️
