As the year wraps up, we’ve been celebrating our 2026 HGHS golf team through banquet season and graduation, and it’s really hit us how special this group has been.

Our four seniors, Dylan, Lucas I., Hunter, and Lucas G., have meant so much to this program. Their leadership, hard work, and support for their teammates helped shape HGHS Golf into what it is today, and they’ll definitely be missed.

What made this group special wasn’t just the scores or wins. It was the way they showed up every day, supported each other, and made being part of this team fun and meaningful. These seniors helped build a culture that’s going to keep going long after this season, and the younger guys are ready to keep it rolling.

It’s tough seeing this senior group move on, but we’re really excited about what’s ahead for HGHS Golf and all the younger players ready to step up and keep building something special together.

We hope they know this will always be their team too. No matter where life takes them, they will always have a place in HGHS Golf and people here who love them, believe in them, and will always be cheering them on. 💚⛳️

Sub-State may not have gone the way we hoped, but goodness are we proud of Dylan and Lucas.

These two have poured so much heart, hard work, leadership, and kindness into HGHS Golf over the years, and today was no different. They are the kind of teammates who make everyone around them better, from our varsity players all the way down to our middle school golfers. Their impact on this program is something truly special.

We are going to miss their leadership more than words can say, but we are so thankful we got to be part of their journey. No matter where life takes them next, they will always have a family in HGHS Golf and a whole community cheering them on every step of the way. We are so, so proud of these boys.

There’s something really special about the community we are building in HGHS Golf, and this weekend was such a perfect reminder of that.

At the Golfweek Amateur Tour event at The Glade at Cedar Crest Golf Club, we got to see that community come full circle. One of our former girls captains, Dakota Burcham, competed alongside Coach Vaughn, and it was so special to watch. Dakota finished T3 in her first competition in her division, and Coach Vaughn finished 9th in his division.

Moments like this mean more than scores. They show that HGHS Golf is about more than just a season. It is about relationships, growth, and a love for the game that lasts far beyond high school.

We are so proud of Dakota and Coach Vaughn, and even more proud of the community we are building. Our goal has always been bigger than golf. We want to create a place where our players feel supported, stay connected, and continue playing for years to come.

From 2025 MCSS Champion to 2026 6A Section 4 Champion, Senior Lucas Ivey has been a big part of all our team success! He took care of business today with 4 straight birdies on the back 9 to seize control of our hyper competitive section and finished strong with his 2nd tournament win!

We came so close to qualifying the boys team… we were 2 shots shy. Still, what an incredible run for the 2026 Hazel Green golf team! We sent the largest team in school history to the postseason, the boys averaged 78 today, Maggie nearly qualified for Sub-State for the girls, Dylan qualified in back to back years, and Lucas qualified and finished as the individual tournament champion for 6A Section 4 boys!

Dylan and Lucas will move on to Sub-State at Terrapin Hills on Tuesday May 5th!

Our final Sectional qualifier completes our team roster for Cypress Lakes tomorrow! Willow played her matches and several tournaments well to become our 7th girl qualifier, 4th Freshman girl, and 14th postseason golfer setting a school record! Congratulations Willow!
