Hello, TdK SAG Teams,
Thank you for the incredible enthusiasm, hospitality, and creativity you brought to this year’s Tour die Kapellen. Our SAG stops are such an important part of the TdK experience, and the effort you put into welcoming and encouraging our cyclists did not go unnoticed. We received so many wonderful comments on ALL the stops along the routes!
This year’s Themed SAG Competition was an especially tight race, and after considering the creativity, energy, community involvement, and overall rider experience, we simply could not choose just one winner. Catharine and Pfeifer tied for first place, each creating a memorable experience in a completely different way.
Catharine’s “Chicken” theme was pure fun and energy from the moment riders approached town. The involvement of so many young people was especially appreciated, with kids greeting cyclists out on the county road before they even turned onto Catharine Avenue. The creative chicken costumes, enthusiastic volunteers, and even the dog dressed as a chicken brought smiles and laughter throughout the day. Riders repeatedly commented on the wonderful energy and warm welcome they received.
Pfeifer’s “Mudcats” baseball theme stood out for its ingenuity, attention to detail, and wonderful connection to the community’s history. Centering the theme around a professional baseball player from the Pfeifer area was such a clever way to showcase local heritage. The custom Mudcats baseball jerseys, the themed baseball music, historical displays about the community and its baseball team, and the story of Pfeifer’s hometown professional player, Monty Basgall (connection to the Dodgers) created an experience that was both entertaining and educational. Add to that the impressive quality and variety of SAG snacks, and the entire stop was exceptionally well done.
These two SAGs captured so much of what Tour die Kapellen is about: community pride, history, hospitality, creativity, and fun. While their approaches were very different, both went above and beyond to create an experience our cyclists will remember.
Congratulations to Catharine and Pfeifer, our 2026 Themed SAG Competition co-winners!
To every SAG team, please know how grateful we are for the time, work, and heart you give to TdK. You are a tremendous part of what makes this event so special and why our cyclists continue to return year after year.
With sincere appreciation,
Kay, Kathy and the TdK Team
