Aikido of Northwest Kansas is a school devoted to challenging individuals to handle conflict as active peace-makers, to break free from that which binds them, to live their lives to the fullest each day, and to be aware of their effect on the community around them. We offer traditional martial arts training in Aikido (for youth, adults, and families). Our school has a summer term, a fall-to-winter

term, and a winter-spring term. We also have summer and winter camps on-site. During the winter break of December 15-January 15, we usually take at least one trip to the Aikido Association of America headquarters dojo in Chicago. Summer Schedule Changes Effective June 1
We are shifting the Shurite study group to request only–ask Sensei if you want to join as there will not be a set time over the summer; we will do the same for the Internal Power Study Group–though those practices will also continue to show up in regular classes, if you want to join other sessions, ask Sensei. Sword and Shield moves to Mondays after Family Weapons and becomes every week, and Regional Aikido (Zoom and in-person) will shift to starting after Sword and Shield on Mondays. All other classes stay the same.

June 11 no Aikido due to National Instructor’s Seminar in Chicago

June 21 Sword and Shield Fight Practice–Wichita Fighters training with us in Hays 12:30PM
We will be meeting with the SCA marshal from Wichita along with many of their regular fighters to train. We tentatively plan to train at the Arc Park near the shaded Pavilion, though the Pavilion itself is reserved (so look for armor and people swinging sticks nearby).

April 10-12 FHSU TMAA Toyoda Sensei & Boehmer Sensei Aikido Seminar
This free Aikido Seminar will be instructed by the Aikido Association of America Chief Instructor, Stephen Toyoda Sensei, rokudan, and Aaron Boehmer Sensei, godan, Aikido Training Academy's Dojo Cho. Though students with no prior experience are welcome at all points in the seminar, Friday evening and Saturday morning are especially geared towards allowing those with no prior training or from other martial arts backgrounds to join. The seminar will occur at Fort Hays State University Cunningham Hall, Gym 121 (near the tennis courts on the south side of the building). The schedule is as follows:
Friday April 10 5:00PM-7:30PM
Saturday April 11 9:00AM-12:00PM, 2:00PM-5:00PM
Sunday April 12 10:00AM-12:30PM
Note: This seminar is put on by the FHSU Traditional Martial Arts Alliance; it is supported by Aikido of Northwest Kansas.

Aikido in Wichita Apr 18
We will head down around 6:30AM and train with our Wichita Aikido study group; we typically get back to Hays around 2:30-4:30PM. Please contact Sensei in advance if you are wanting to carpool with him or meet the group there (they train 9:30AM-11:30AM or slightly after).

Tuesday Evening Schedule after Adult and Family Aikido shifted
Tuesday evenings now have a 45 minute segment following a short break to allow for more time for sword and shield, have added internal power into the rotation, and have a break before meditation.

Nimz Sensei Seminar in Blue Rapids Kansas Mar 13-15
Come support Eleanor’s school at 4 Public Square, Blue Rapids, KS and train with regional friends for a fun weekend! The seminar is $40 or $10 per session; it is open to new and potentially interested people with no previous experience along with friends from other martial disciplines or Aikido schools nearby.
