The final out may have ended the 2026 season, but it could never erase the legacy this senior class leaves behind.
After falling to the Roseau Rams, the Nuggets said goodbye to 9 seniors and 2 managers — a group that has been together since the days of teeball, growing up side by side in maroon and gold. Together, they became trailblazers for Hawley softball and forever changed the standard of what it means to be a Nugget.
This class etched their names into history as the first Hawley team ever to advance to the AA State Championship Game. Their journey was built on grit, heartbreak, resilience, and determination. They earned 8AA Section Runner-Up finishes in 2022, 2023, and 2024. But in 2025, they were done collecting red ribbons. They fought for the blue one — claiming the Section Championship and punching their ticket to state.
Pressure never rattled this group. Big moments became their norm. Six of these seniors own two state volleyball gold medals. Every one of them earned an AA State Runner-Up medal, and four experienced the state softball tournament back in 2021. Competing on the biggest stages was never something they feared — it was something they embraced.
But what makes this class special goes far beyond medals, banners, and trophies. They led with toughness. They competed with heart. They represented Hawley with pride. They showed younger players what commitment, teamwork, and excellence look like every single day. As Coach said best: “They didn’t just leave a temporary mark, they left a tattoo.” And he’s right. The impact these girls leave on the Nugget program will never fade. Young Nuggets, take notice — these seniors set the bar. They are exemplary athletes, students, teammates, and leaders. They truly shine like Golden Nuggets.
Seniors, this final game does not define you. You have been movers and shakers since the day you walked into Hawley High School in 2020, and there is no doubt you will continue making an impact wherever life takes you next.
Thank you for carrying the Nugget name with pride. Once a Nugget, always a Nugget. 💛⛏️
