Trying something a little old-fashioned here at Huff Family Farms & Stables! 🥚🐓

We started our first batch of water-glassed eggs using fresh, clean, unwashed eggs from our own hens. The eggs are submerged in a mixture of water and food-grade pickling lime, which seals the pores of the shells and helps preserve them for the months when egg production slows down.

The cloudy appearance and lime settling at the bottom are both normal. Now we’ll store the jar in a cool, dark place and let it do its job!

We love learning traditional ways to preserve what the farm provides and make good use of the blessings God has given us. Here’s to another step toward a fuller pantry and a more self-sufficient farm! 🌾

Welcome to Huff Family Farms & Stables, Otis & Pearl! 🐷 🐖

Today was one of those long, wet farm days. We spent most of it working through the rain—clearing the area, setting posts, stretching fence & getting everything ready for our two newest additions. Even played with the barn cats during a small break during the fence build 😃

By the end of the day, Otis & Pearl had a new pen with plenty of shade, room to explore & even a little pool to cool off in. They’re 4 months old, full of personality & already seem to be settling right in.

It was muddy, tiring work, but seeing them enjoy their new home made every bit of it worthwhile. Days like today are what building our little family farm is all about—working together, caring for God’s creatures, & making memories along the way.

Welcome home, Otis & Pearl! We’re excited to watch you grow & see what kind of adventures you bring to the farm. ❤️🌾 🥓

We’re trying something new here at Huff Family Farms & Stables! 🥚🐓

We’re venturing into water-glassing some of our fresh, unwashed eggs from our free-range chickens—a traditional method of preserving eggs for the months when the hens slow down their laying.

Just another step toward becoming more self-sufficient and making the most of what our little farm provides. We’re excited to see how our first batch turns out!

Rowdy is settling in quite nicely. ❤️

At 34 years old, this sweet mare has already lived an incredible life. We are honored that Holly entrusted us with continuing to love and care for her during her retirement.

We pray Huff Family Farms & Stables will always be a place where animals can simply enjoy peace, comfort, and lots of love.

We’re incredibly excited to welcome these two sweet horses to Huff Family Farms & Stables, where they’ll spend their retirement surrounded by peace, good pasture, and plenty of love.

A very special thank you to Holly for trusting us with their care. We don’t take that responsibility lightly, and we’re grateful you’ve entrusted them to our family.

Here’s to new beginnings, green pastures, and many happy years ahead. Welcome home, Sherry & Rowdy! We are thrilled to have you in our family!

A little progress update from Huff Family Farms & Stables!

Today was another step forward as we continue replacing sections of the pasture fencing in preparation for some very special new additions to the farm.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but it’s exciting to watch everything slowly come together. Every board we replace is another step toward creating a safe, comfortable home for what’s coming next.

We’re keeping the surprise under wraps just a little longer… but we can’t wait to share it with y’all soon!

Stay tuned—big things are happening at Huff Family Farms & Stables!

Meet the newest members of the farm — our four rescued kittens!

These little ones were in need of a safe place to call home, and we’re thankful we were able to give them one. Once they’re a little bigger and fully settled in, they’ll become our barn cats, helping keep rodents and other unwanted critters away from the barn and around the property.

They’ll spend the rest of their lives here with plenty of food, fresh water, shelter, and lots of love. Around here, every animal has a purpose, but more importantly, every animal deserves kindness.

We’re excited to watch them grow and become part of the Huff Family Farms & Stables family.

🐔 Chicken Coop Project Update 🐔

Another step closer! Repurpose, reuse!

Spent yesterday afternoon making good progress on the new chicken coop here at Huff Family Farm & Stables. The enclosure is taking shape around the existing awning, converted an old shed that was left on the property into the coop, and it’s finally starting to look like a real home for our future flock.

Still left to do:
- Finish installing the remaining netting
- Close in a few gaps
- Hang the door for the courtyard
- Install the solar panel on top of the awning

We’re excited to see it come together and can’t wait to welcome the chickens into their new home. More updates coming soon!

God is good. ❤️🚜🐓

Peanut is back home after her surgery! She’s still loopy, but thank you Lord for getting her through this. Have a good recovery to go through, but she will be fine. Thank you for all your prayers!

Asking for prayers for our Peanut, she has what they call an “open pyometra”, this is when after a heat cycle her uterus stays open and the uterus itself gets a bacterial infection which could lead to sepsis and be fatal.

She will be undergoing emergency surgery this morning to remove her uterus.

Please continue to keep Peanut and us in your prayers!
