Warning: Rant forthcoming -

You know what chaps my hide? Gurus who speak out of both sides of their mouth. I rarely get riled, except when it comes to seeing people be shamed. Today I read that we are here for pleasure, not to learn. Then they go on to say they'll show you how. That's learning man.

Pain pushes until pleasure pulls, and they aren't mutually exclusive. As long as we're in human form, s**t happens. The difference is in how you 'learn' to handle it.

There are people on this planet having painful human experiences, not of their own doing. They were born into it. To say to them, you're here for pleasure, not to learn, denies their very real pain, and shames them into thinking it's their fault they aren't happy. To tell them they aren't here to learn heaps shame and guilt on them.

You are here to learn. Maybe you're here to learn to experience pleasure. That's between you and your higher self.

What I won't do is tell you that you're not here to learn, then try to teach you something.

If I can help ease your pain, your fear, your depression, or your anxiety, and help you find the way to the life you dream of living, that is enough for me. I'm not God. No guru is.

This morning I woke up with a poem in my head:

I have a friend named Corey,
she's the opposite of me.
I like to stay put.
She likes to run free.

I have all my things
lined up in even rows.
She takes what she can carry
to the places that she goes.

I do not like to change.
I like my life just so.
She changes every moment,
a jewel upon her nose.

For me, the dog.
For her, the cat.
She rocks red heels.
I live in flats.

There is beauty in our friendship.
Something about us fits.
We twirl the ends together
to hold the tension of the opposites.

My friend Allie wrote this. I'm pretty much the luckiest person on earth because I definitely got the best friends
