Someone set the temperature to fiery furnace so Mr. Wallen has implemented his heat management strategy as well as his energy conservation program from his floor-level office. He has informed us that all dock-related business has been postponed until further notice.

Wallen enlisted his good pal Chesney to help keep an eye on the docks and make sure the captains stayed in line. After a full day of inspections, greeting guests, and accepting well-deserved treats, we're pleased to report the operation was a success.

As the official Chief Dock Operations Officer of Hatteras Landing, I have an important announcement to make:

With the upcoming holiday, I feel it's important to remind everyone that fireworks are illegal on Hatteras Island.

Now, I don't make the rules, but I do give this one 4 paws. And before anyone starts calling me a scaredy-cat, let me remind you that I patrol the docks daily, frequently stare down pelicans twice my size, and once barked at a rowdy raccoon that thought he owned the place, so I'm pretty tough.

But fireworks? That's a hard no for me, dawg (see what I did there? 😏).

First, sky exploding and loud booms with no warning? No thanks.

Second, island winds + dry grass + sparks flying = a recipe for disaster and NOBODY wants that. My favorite nap spot is only 10' from the fuel pumps, people, and I need my coat due to the aforementioned winds, so if you could kindly put down the explosives and pick up a cold beer instead, I'd be much obliged! And it just so happens we have a whole cooler full of them, so you do the math.

Repeat after me:
Beer is good.
Illegal fireworks are bad.

That is all. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an important nap scheduled. 🐶
