I’m big on signs, and this week the universe has been throwing them right in my face.
Yesterday, I was contacted about a mare in need of rescue. Without going into too much detail this girl is going to need a LOT of help!
I’m no veterinarian, but from what I can see, she appears to be suffering from DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis). If that is the case, she will likely need extensive veterinary care, injections, and corrective shoeing to keep her comfortable. AND groceries! LOTS AND LOTS OF GROCERIES! Body score is looking like 3 out of 10. 1 being the worse.
Every sign is pointing me toward helping this mare, but we’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. Taking on a case like this comes with significant expenses, and we simply can’t do it alone.
She needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian- not only for what we expect is DSLD but for an injury to her stifle that was left untreated and we’re looking for sponsors willing to help give her a chance at a better life and bring her home here to the farm! Farm call, ultrasound/xrays, bloodwork, the whole 9 yards!
