ion!! Detasseling typically starts about mid-July, although depending on the season, it may start earlier. Main pick-up times are 6:00 a.m.; other pick-up times may vary. Crews will arrive at the field and either be walking through the corn rows or riding on carriers while removing tassels from the corn stalks. All workers are guaranteed minimum wage -- additional (bonus) pay may be paid considering performance of the worker based on speed, cooperation, dependability, efficiency, positive attitude, reliability, ability to follow rules, adherence to safety practices, attendance, and experience. Any interested party may contact the S&J Detasseling office (402.463.6371) directly and we will answer any questions and could inform you of our operation in more detail.

The S&J Detasseling End-of-Season Pool Party was a huge success! 250 detasselers and their families came to cool off, relax, and recharge after an a-maze-ing summer in the fields. We enjoyed working with all of you and can’t wait to see you in the fields next summer!! Hope you made some lasting friendships and have a great school year!

Everyone is officially Done for the season!
