There have been some changes lately with the Fast Bucksaw operation. After a wonderful long journey, Paul Swanstrom has sold the business to me, Scott Stricker. It's a bit of an interesting story, at least to me it is.
I was here on Facebook in the fall of 2025, and I saw a post about a family that was looking for someone to take over a small saw manufacturing operation. What caught my eye was that I recognized the man in the photo holding that saw. It was Paul Swanstrom. I have known Paul for about 10 years and never knew he manufactured this saw. Paul and I are members in another organization that is not related to woodworking at all, and the subject just never came up!
Well, needless to say, I clicked on the post and read the details. Paul had started the business back in the 1980's after being disappointed with what was available on the market at the time. Over the years he grew the business to what would be considered a good size hobby operation. As the years moved on, the sales tapered off and Paul's ability to manufacture the saws also slowed down.
When his family posted about it, I had recently completed construction of a basic woodshop to use for hobby activities as retirement approaches, so I thought this might fit in well.
I contacted Paul's son Eric, set up a time to go visit Paul in the workshop. I was immediately impressed with the craftmanship of the saws. Paul has done a great job in creating the jigs, custom tooling, custom router bits, custom drill bits, etc. that make for wonderful tool. I do not plan to make any updates or improvements to the tooling or jigs as they are all perfectly functional as they are, however, I will be adding in a few safety measures to ensure I can continue to create these wonderful saws with all of my fingers!
Paul and his family and I worked out the details and a few months later we moved the tools and jigs to my workshop here in Baycity WI.
I look forward to continuing the craftmanship Paul started many years ago, and I look forward to bringing this saw back to the campers, hikers, canoeist, snowmobilers, ATVers, backcountry adventure seekers, and more that are looking for a compact yet strong, robust saw to use in the wild.
Even if you are a weekend camper that just wants to cut firewood in a timely manner, this saw is for you! It stores neatly, safely, compact.

Scott
