Great words to live by that were sent to me in an email today. So many people lose site of this when watching their players play. We get caught up in the mistakes a player is making but forget this is part of the game. The mental side of the game can be harder than the physical side.

Do you go into training (or a game) with a fear of making mistakes? If so, don't be afraid to fail, because that is how we learn best. A mistake is meant to be a teaching moment, and practice is an ideal time to make mistakes and learn from them.
Practice is a time for learning new skills, then making mistakes while you work to perfect the skill. Mistakes allow us to problem solve and since soccer is a game of constantly solving problems, why not train in a similar environment to that in which we play.
If you are constantly playing to not make mistakes, that is not the right mindset, because you get too consumed in that mentality and miss the opportunity to truly enjoy playing the game. Games are never going to be mistake free, so get comfortable making a mistake, having an immediate positive reaction, and then learning from it in that moment and in the future.
Rebounding from a mistake is a learned mental skill; be sure to practice now so it comes naturally in a game. Remember, push yourself so that you have an opportunity to make some mistakes, and start working on that mindset of how you respond to a mistake, then come up with a solution to solve that error.
