PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: PETER WADE

Our 2026 Captain and one of the OGs of Hartsville Rugby.

Peter Wade has been with this team through it all and is easily one of the most physical guys you’ll meet on both sides of the ball. Whether he’s carrying the ball hard, making tackles, or leading the lads, he sets the tone every time he steps on the pitch.

Peter also started the Letters for Santa drive that helps donate presents to kids in need during the holidays. He is a true role model and pillar of the community. (Personally I want to be like Peter when I grow up 😂)

In all seriousness, he is a true leader and a big part of what Hartsville Rugby is all about. Thank you Peter Wade and congrats on your player spotlight!

RUGBY 101: WHAT IS A SCRUM?

A scrum is one way rugby restarts after a minor mistake, like a knock-on or forward pass.

- 8 players from each team bind together
- The ball is fed into the middle of the 2 sides
- Both teams push and compete to win possession

Basically: 16 big guys fighting over one ball.

🔥 PLAYER SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK — TAYLOR BELCHER 🔥

This week we’re shining the spotlight on one of the OGs of Hartsville Rugby, Taylor Belcher!

Taylor is coming back this season with a fire lit under him and something to prove. He’s been putting in the work, bringing the intensity, and showing exactly what it means to be a Hydra.

And yesterday at the beach, all that work paid off when he punched in his first try of the year!

A longtime part of this club and still hungry for more, we’re excited to see what Taylor brings for the rest of the season.

Great group of guys to play with. 2 brand new guys out today showing they have heart and our favorite props first try of the year!
