We were so proud of our boys last night in Remsen against MMCRU. We may have lost 5-2 but, we just couldn’t come up with a couple big hits early on to drive in a few runners we left on. We battled hard against a good team! Tomorrow we will be in Hartley playing Harris Lake Park for our Home opener!! Go hawks!

Tough game for the boys last night in a loss to a very good MMCRU team. Saw some good things from some of these younger guys when they got in the game making plays and contact with the ball. Blake Meendering is starting to get his bat going adding another single last night. Grant Kunzman turned a fastball around and hit it to deep left center on a fly out. It’s good to see some signs of more bats coming around at the plate!

Couldn’t have pictured a better start for the varsity boys home-opener last night. Jacob Cates led the way on the mound with 19 Stikeouts in a 7inning 4-3 win. Jack Mastbergen and Ricky Smith both got ahold of deep doubles. Hunter Daggett got his first career start at catcher and did a great job behind the plate along with his 2 RBI’s. Go Hawks!

I was extremely proud of the way the boys handled themselves on the field last night. We hung around with OABCIG for most of the game before it got out of hand in the bottom of the 5th. Jack Mastbergen put on a great pitching performance and looks like he has grown a lot as a pitcher. For having a lot of new Varsity guys we fielded the ball very well only having 1 error. Just never got the hits we needed. Now we know we need to focus on getting the bats going. We are looking forward to the home game against GTRA Thursday.

The 37th Annual All-State Academic Team was selected by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. First team consists of the top 23 senior players, nominated by their coaches, and the next 20 senior players received a second team all-academic certificate. This is all four athletic classes combined.

Congratulations to Tyson Tessum for being named to the 2nd Team Academic All-State for the 2023 season. A great honor!
