Riley Memorial Karate Club Riley Memorial Karate Club is open to students ten years of age and up. We practice and teach a mix of Shotokan Karate and RyuKyu Kempo. Visitors are welcome.

The Riley Memorial Karate Club is a family friendly martial arts program that offers kids class for ages 7-11 and mixed age classes for ages 12 and older. We practice Ryukyu Kempo Karate. Classes are held at the Hartland Recreation Center. Kids class are Monday 6-7
Adult class are Monday 7-8 and Thursday 6:00-7:30 PM. All classes are free of charge. For more information contact Chief Instructor, Sensai Peter Carini.

Riley Memorial Karate Club is pleased to announce that we will be offering a new class in Fairlee, Vermont beginning Tuesday April 1 and running through Tuesday May 6 at the Fairlee Town Auditorium.

Each two-hour class will provide a basic understanding of Karate techniques, efficient body movement, power generation, and physical awareness. Participants will learn stretching, stances, blocking, parrying, and striking as a group and through some partnered exercises. The workshop is geared toward participants ages 14 and older.

This workshop is planned as the first of a series of three workshops to introduce participants at all levels to Shotokan Karate. The first six week session will focus on Kihon (stances, blocks, and strikes) the second, to be offered in the fall, will focus on Kata (structured forms), and the third will focus on Kumite (sparring techniques). The charge for the first six week session is $90.

Come try out Shotokan Karate!

Karate is good exercise, good for mental conditioning and discipline, and just plain fun!

When: Thursday January 9through Thursday June 6, 6:00-7:30 PM.

It is with great saddness that we remember our friend and former instructor Chip Hutt (first in the back row on the right). Chip was a dedicated practioner of Karate and a kind and patient teacher. The students pictured here are just fraction of those he taught and whose lives he touched. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time.

Karate classes are back on in person. We will be meeting outside behind the Hartland Rec Center Mondays 6-7 and Thursdays 5:30-6:30 beginning Thursday June 4 (weather permitting).

All those attending class must wear face masks and maintain appropriate social distance.

I will try to make a weather determination 24 hours in advance of class time. In the event of bad weather we will revert to online class.
