Once the build is complete and the finish is laid down, we’re still not done. Buffing the playing surface is one more step toward getting the look, feel, and play we’re after.

Because a Cedar Street board shouldn’t just look good from across the yard.

It should feel like a quality board the second you put your hands on it.

It’s all in the finish.

A little Wisconsin tradition, Cedar Street style.

This set is a little more personal than most.

If you’ve driven around Wisconsin, you’ve probably seen the painted quilt patterns hanging on barns. These boards are our take on that tradition — barn quilts turned into co****le boards.

And there was a pretty good reason for this one.

They were built for my mom, who’s been an avid quilter for years. So instead of just putting a graphic on a board, I wanted to take something she loves and turn it into something completely different.

Two quilt patterns. Dark stained wood. Blue accents. And a whole lot of meaning behind the design.

Sometimes the best custom boards aren’t about a team, a logo or a favorite beer.

Sometimes they’re about the person you’re building them for.

🐾 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY FROM CEDAR STREET! 🐾

Around here, the dogs aren’t just hanging around the shop…

They’ve got their own league. 😂

Buck. Thor. Oaks. Chevy.

Four very different personalities. One extremely competitive crew.

Buck and Thor bring the brotherly rivalry.
Oaks brings the veteran presence.
And Chevy? Well… somebody has to host this operation.

They may disagree on strategy, throwing technique and who actually won the last game — but there’s one thing the Cedar Street Dog League can agree on:

Life’s better with a dog by your side. ❤️

So today we’re giving the four-legged members of Cedar Street the spotlight they deserve.

Happy National Dog Day to Buck, Thor, Oaks, Chevy — and all the dogs out there who somehow become part of everything we do.

Quiet page. Busy shop.

We’ve been a little quiet around here the last few days.

The shop? Not so much.

There’s wood getting cut, sawdust getting made, and more Cedar Street boards taking shape.

Sometimes posting about the work takes a back seat to actually doing the work.

So… here’s your Tuesday reminder that we’re still here, still building, and still making a mess.

Fresh out of the box they might look pretty… but nobody wants to throw bricks all night.

A little work now, a lot better play later.

Everybody’s got their own method, though — how are you breaking yours in?

Some custom sets are easier to design than others. This one wasn’t.

Charlie gave me a few ideas — Lynyrd Skynyrd, fishing, freedom — and pretty much let me run with it.

But knowing Charlie, those things aren’t random.

Skynyrd is part of the music he grew up with. Fishing is part of who he is. And the whole idea of freedom, doing things your own way, and figuring things out without waiting for somebody else to do it for you… that’s pretty much Charlie.

So rather than just putting a few ideas on a board, I tried to build something that felt like him.

Dark wood. Southern rock. Fishing. Freedom. No unnecessary bu****it.

He gave me the pieces. I just put them together.

Judging by the reveal, I think we got this one right.

MADE BY HAND. BUILT FOR GOOD TIMES.

Every set starts right here in the shop — real wood, cut, assembled, finished, and worked by hand.

No assembly line. No mass-produced feel. Just a lot of sawdust, a little beer, and an unreasonable amount of attention to something that’s eventually going to have bags thrown at it. 😂

That’s kind of the point.

We build them because we love the craft.
You play them because they’re meant to bring people together.

🐾 MEET CHEVY — THE HOST

Some dogs are here for the competition.

Chevy is here for everybody else.

If the yard is full, the laughs are loud, and somebody says, “Alright… one more game,” Chevy knows the night is going exactly the way it should.

He’s not worried about the score.

He’s worried about whether everyone’s having a good time.

Because the best backyard isn’t the one with the fanciest setup.

It’s the one nobody wants to leave.

Every backyard needs a reason to stay a little longer.

Around Cedar Street, that reason is Chevy.
