Equestrian and Therapeutic Center
is a Black woman and veteran-owned and operated nonprofit organization and urban riding center that provides culturally competent and accessible equine-assisted therapy in an urban community. Ebony Horsewomen has been a fixture in the north end of Hartford, CT, and in the equine therapeutic arena for over 30 years. In addition to equine-assisted therapy and equine-assisted psychotherapy, we also provide horseback riding lessons, equine youth programs, and NASW-approved equine therapy workshops.

Here’s what’s happening this fall at Ebony Horsewomen Equestrian & Therapeutic Center! 🍂🐎

🏛️ The Mary Fields Horse & Heritage Museum is open for tours now through November 14!* Learn about the life and legacy of Stagecoach Mary Fields, along with the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls on the American frontier. The museum also offers an educational field-trip experience for middle school, high school, and homeschool groups.

🤠 September 18–20: Ebony Horsewomen youth and team members will hit the road for our annual trip to the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo in the DMV area, along with visits to local cultural sites.

🍂 September 19: Fall programming officially begins! Our Weekend Academy is open to youth ages 5–14 and runs Saturdays from 9:30 AM–2:30 PM throughout the academic year.

🐎 October 3: Come through for Horses & Libations at the Barn from 12–4 PM! Meet our horses, tour the museum and barn, take a hayride, and learn more about our work while supporting EHI’s equine youth programs.

Horses & Libations is for adults 21 and over. Admission is $40.

Come through for Horses & Libations at the Barn, Ebony Horsewomen’s first event of the fall season! 🐎

Join us Saturday, October 3, from 12–4 PM for an afternoon of horses, heritage, and community at the Mary Fields Horse & Heritage Museum.

Enjoy hayrides, a historical performance, a barn tour and photos with the horses, line dancing, museum and gift shop access, coffee, refreshments, and more.

Your ticket also helps support Ebony Horsewomen’s equine programs.

🎟️ Admission is $40. Scan the QR code on the flyer to purchase your ticket through PayPal. When submitting your payment, please write “Horses & Libations” in the payment note.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of a beloved member of our herd, Pegasus. 🐴❤️

Our therapy horses are a special part of the Ebony Horsewomen family, touching the lives of our students, families, clients, volunteers, community and staff. Pegasus was no exception, and we know his loss will be felt by many.

We are grateful for the lives Pegasus touched and the years he spent as part of our EHI family, and he will be deeply missed. 🕊️
