Our Priority: High School Sports

Thank you for stopping by our page. My name is Brad Seiner and I am a Farmers Insurance agency owner in Harrisonville, Missouri. Before becoming an insurance agent in 2009, sports writing and photography was not only my career, but my passion.

Following high school graduation from Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri in 2000, I received a journalism degree from Central Missouri State University (now known as the University of Central Missouri) in Warrensburg, Missouri. I was the sports editor of the student newspaper, The Muleskinner, my senior year in 2005-06.

Upon college graduation, I was the sports editor of The Star Herald, a weekly newspaper then located in Belton, Missouri. As the sports editor, I covered high school sports for Belton High School and Raymore-Peculiar High School. I was the sports photographer, reporter, writer and editor. I helped manage our web site as well. I was also the reporter for the City of Peculiar, Missouri. I was with The Star Herald until late 2009.

Since that day, I have continued to be in Cass County. I have opened up a business and tried to stay in touch with our local schools as much as possible. But I was missing something. Taking into consideration I missed being around the high schools sports arena and the gaping void of high school sports coverage throughout Cass County, starting a sports publication or page has been on my mind for quite some time.

Our eight county high schools deserve to have a place to show off their special and talented student-athletes. That’s why I started Cass County Sports Scene. Let’s show off Belton, Raymore-Peculiar, Harrisonville, Sherwood, Cass Midway, Archie, Pleasant Hill and Drexel high schools and the great kids that play all the various sports!

Another goal of this page is to not let any sport go unnoticed. Sure, high school football drives sports throughout America, but those student-athletes who participate in basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, wrestling, golf, tennis, swimming, cross county and track & field work just as hard and deserve their part of the limelight.

I won’t be able to do this alone, however. This is going to be a reader, fan, coach and student-athlete driven page. We are going to do this together. We don’t need full stories about every game or match, just short write-ups are just fine. Photos with information about who is pictured and where it was taken will be great. Videos are huge. Short clips of games, matches, awards, etc. is a great way to get the word out to the public.

Remember, this is going to be open to the public, so we have to keep it clean and keep it fun. We want it to be informative and well done. I think this will be a great way to share our student-athletes and their adventures with friends and families not only in Cass County, but anywhere in the world. We have some fantasic kids here in Cass County. Very talented young men and women. This can also help with college recruiting. The more an athlete shows up in searches, the better.

Let’s have fun and let’s make Cass County sports a big part of our community!
