8 players came in for 12 hours of detailed skill training for our first Personal Training Academy! We not only worked on exposing each of these players to their weaknesses and how to turn them into real skills but also covered how to continue to build their skills after camp was over and to build daily habits to be successful!

Each player took home a training journal where they could list their individual goals, the daily habits to reach those goals, and track the skills their working on unlocking on their own.

This group was awesome and really got better this week!

A combination of both these skills are great to utilize in transition!

A turn push is a great technique to get the ball ahead when you to squeeze through tight spaces but have space ahead to push the ball out into.

A swivel step is a great way to change direction on help side defenders by swinging your outside leg over without having to change the angle of your hips nor having to slow down on your drive.

Most players typically change directions skipping off the inside foot but can you also do it loading with the outside leg?

Having the ability to do both makes you a more unpredictable player and gives you the ability to change direction at any moment in time and with whatever foot.

The touch of the cone/light holds us accountable to staying low and keeping speed through our movement.

Macey here has been training with me almost three years and her development with her skills has improved dramatically.

We’ve worked on all aspects of her game when comes to her shooting, ball handling, finishing, and basketball abilities to give her as much freedom to play in whatever role she’s given with her team.

Player Spotlight - Clayton joined our Personal Training back in September and has made great strides in his skills over the past few months.

He’s had a terrific season as a sophomore at East Rock playing JV and recently got pulled up to varsity! Even in the middle of his season Clayton has made dedicated time to continue to work on improving his skills with us.

Way to go Clayton and let’s keep building!
