The is a month out!
Saturday Sept 5 - 100 K Marathon
Sunday Sept 6 - 100 Mile Ultra
Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) volunteers are working double time to get the trails rolling!
Here is a bit more than a glimpse into the backend of bucking up semi large deadfall to keep the trails ROLLING!
You get great intel from Logan while you are clearing trees on your way up. Took a pic of his pic.
- posting pictures on trailforks is a great way to keep the community updated too.
Don't rush! Create a safe working area. Consider the best series of cuts to disarm the bomb (remove the tree or debris). A two - inch sapling pinned under a tree could take your face right off.
Make sure your equipment works flawlessly and your safety gear is fresh! If you're not fresh - go home - fuel up - coming back when you are! Or bring help!
Get trained up:
- Trail maintenance training creates the foundation of knowledge
- Sawyer training is a multi step process starting in a classroom setting, getting to know your equipment, and concludes with a day of practice and watching other practice.
- Wilderness First-aid is an equally important (and required) component.
Super pumped to have the Stokesville Virginia area trails rolling supreme for the upcoming fall riding - Stokesville Campout 🎊 - Oct 9-11
