Like everyone, I always want to set new goals for myself at the beginning of each year. But also like everyone, I am quick to give up on them if they’re too aggressive or ambitious. 

I want to do things differently this year. Let's create smaller goals and give ourselves a jump start into a better year!

Join me this Sunday, January 9 at 2pm at CrossFit Harrisonburg for a kick start challenge where we can set ourselves up for success for the rest of the year….if not longer. Because that is what health is all about, right?! It’s not about living life on a diet and constantly saying “no” to things- life is about ups and downs, enjoying the the stuff that make us happy, and food and fitness should be a part of that never-ending journey. 

This challenge is not going to be about eliminating food groups, dieting to lose weight, or even becoming obsessive over food and fitness. It’s simply going to be a way to look at habits that can make us healthier - both inside and out - and award points when we complete the things that are important to us each day. 

The challenge will run from Jan 9 - Feb 5 (four weeks). 
We will meet on Jan 9 at 2pm at CFH to pick up all your challenge info, get your 5-star in-body scan (optional) and do a quick fitness test (also optional). 
It will be $40 to join ($30 will go into the pot for the challenge winners) or $50 if you want to stay for Emily Wagener’s nutritional session at 3pm. (Emily is our on-staff registered dietitian and is amazing!) 

We have a FB group you can join, and we will be posting information weekly that will help you with your new year healthy habits goals. 

You’ll also get several recipe guides to help with food and snack ideas during the challenge (with macros already done for you). 

The challenge will be an honor code points system. You will earn points by hitting your water goal each day, sleep goal, calorie range goal, protein goal, exercise goal, meal prep goal, self improvement goals, etc. We are going to hand out a lot of (individualized) goals at the info session so make sure to mark your calendars for this Sunday Jan 9! DM us if you want to join & Steph will set you up!

HAPPY NEW YEAR SFBC!!
What a year it's been, huh?! Does anyone have a resolution to do something crazy like 100 burpees a day or row a million miles by the end of the year? (More like "if you know, you know who the crazies, I mean, the dedicated are.) 🤣💜
I have some goals like drinking enough water this year and strengthening my glutes. But I also have goals like being more present when I'm with my family and reading more at night.
I'd love to hear your goals below and even better, if I can help you achieve them, I'd love to hear that too! How can SFBC most help you this year and what would that success look like to you?! Let me hear it below!

Let me tell you about Nichole. She walked in during our first week of being open with the mindset of "I'm just going to try this out." She HATED mornings. I wasn't allowed to talk to her until she was a good 20 minutes into her workout. In the early days, sometimes it was just her and I who would show up and we'd grab a barbell and practice heavy lifts together because I never wanted to do cardio that early in the morning. And now? She is the get up and at 'em LEADER of early cardio. In fact, I'm scared to come into the gym that early in fear that she'll whip up on me 🤣.
We are recognizing her today because she just hit DIAMOND STATUS in !! That means THREE YEARS of consistency, dedication, and moving- matter what. But let's be real here. Nichole motivates us no matter what. She's been with us since December of 2017, member turned coach, and coach turned leader. Many of us show up because she is there.
Congrats on hitting diamond, Cole - SFBC wouldn't be what it is without you!!!

Merry Christmas Eve from this group of sweaty exercisers!!!
If you get a chance to workout today, we hope it's because you love exercise and how it makes you feel- not to work of cookies or because you're stressed about food that you're going to eat. You can't screw up everything you've worked for with one day or even one weekend, heck even one week of eating those special holiday meals and treats. Don't sweat the stress of the holidays, sweat it out today bc it makes you feel happy, boosts your mood, lowers your anxieties, and makes you a happier parent/friend/spouse. That's why we are here - not to work off eggnog. Love life, live life, and work hard because your body deserves to feel great.
It was hard for a lot of us to come in today and not talk about holiday sweets and worry about food, but our message is clear - a lifetime of healthy habits will negate a couple days/weeks of eating holiday foods. And in Januray, we are going to run a 4-week Healthy Habit kick off that will help everyone set REASONABLE & ATTAINABLE goals for not just 2022, but for life.

When my hubs, , told me, ( ), back in 2018 that SFBC should get these [] heart rate monitors, I laughed and told him, "we already know how hard we work. We don't need a monitor to prove it."
He kept on me for several weeks and eventually I gave in. He's the king of research so I knew if he had already figured out why we needed them, how it would help us, and which ones to get, then we should probably give it a try.
Little did I know that these belts would change our view of fitness and inspire us to move - no matter what life threw at us. From pregnancies and babies, to finding ways to stay fit over zoom during a pandemic, even walking laps in living rooms at 11pm on the last days of the month, the majority of us at SFBC were HOOKED on improving our fitness with these monitors.
THIS specific post is in celebration of the first two members of SFBC to reach DIAMOND STATUS with myzone. And that is a big flipping deal. Diamond status takes THREE YEARS of getting 1300 MEPs (myzone effort points) a month (an average of 3-4 workouts per week). You have to go through 3 months at iron, 3 months at bronze, 6 months for gold, 1 year for silver, and one year for platinum before you hit diamond. And you can't miss or you start over again.
Guys, if you see Kelly & Brandon at the gym, give them a high five for this accomplishment!
And I'm pretty sure we have a handful of people on their heels about to hit diamond 💎 right there with these two! This crew is one of the hardest working I've met, and I'm so proud of them all.
