Penn Trafford Middle School Swimming

Last year, in only the second year participating, the Penn Trafford Middle School Swim Team dominated among local middle school teams. The girls were undefeated and accomplished becoming 2023 WAADA Champions. It is now time to begin preparations for the 2024 fall season. As this will only be the third year of the program, the middle school students continue to be a club sport and are not provided any funding by the school district.

Therefore, donations will be needed to cover the cost of busing, coaching, officials, equipment and any additional expenses that arise. Our goal is to make the swim team as accessible to as many kids as possible.

Can’t Believe it’s that time again to start thinking about 🏊🏻‍♀️🏊🏼‍♂️PT Middle School Swim🏊🏼‍♂️🏊🏻‍♀️ This will be the start of our 3rd Season! We had a very successful First & Second Season so let’s keep the momentum moving forward! Spread the word to all students (boys & girls) going into 7th & 8th grade this fall. Everyone is welcome to try Middle School Swim.

Middle School Parents/Swimmers

You may or may not know that there has been diligent work being done to make middle school swim an official PT sport. The inaugural 2022 season and the 2023 season were made possible by parent volunteers, other volunteers, and lots of fundraising! It will continue to be that way unless the school picks it up.

On Monday night the board will be addressing Middle School Swim becoming an official school sport. Any PT resident can come and speak; all you have to do is sign in upon arrival. We would like to have as much parent support as possible. We need to remain polite as well as grateful to the board because our club uses the schools facilities for practices, meets, etc.

Speaking points that Coach Babik has brought up:

Student interest (27 kids in 2022, 33 kids in 2023)
Growth in the program
Community / parent demand / support
Success of program (girls WAADA champions, one of the best programs in league)
Our athletes have to pay and families fundraise while the school sponsors MS programs in boys soccer, girls soccer, football, cheerleading, girls cross country, boys cross country, boys basketball, girls basketball, girls track, boys track, and girls volleyball.
Other districts have had MS swimming for years
Any other positive reasons that the board should approve the sport (describe your own experience?)
